I do NOT want a simplified EQ setup with less sliders.

I used a calibrated mic and played pink noise to adjust the EQ.

In fact, I would prefer more sliders and individual EQ for each speaker.

But definitely I do NOT want less EQ sliders.

Perhaps there could be a choice of Advanced/Simple mode for EQ.

In general I do agree with the suggestions that @kostazl suggested though.

  • Hello dear DUDU users and developers,
My system is DUDU4 9.5” 4+64 running DUDU OS 3.6 (by OTA) and I would like to share some annoying issues I have encountered and cannot resolve without your help.
    These are the issues:

    1. The audio settings are total mess and almost useless:
The EQ setting layout has WAY too many slides (consisting of two pages) and cannot be used properly. Also, when I press “Reset Equalizer to default settings” resetting EQ through the Sound menu > Advanced settings > More, it gets back to “User” EQ preset, not to "Standard" as it should be. When the default for “User” EQ is applied, it appears that all the slides goes up few decibels up from zero position, which wrongly rises the sound level?! Pure bug.
In my opinion EQ must be totally redesigned to have proper ergonomic and informative controls, enable/disable toggle, 11 or maximum of 13 slides, ranging from 20-40 Hz to 16-20 kHz, +-8/10 dB correction range and increase/decrease/zero buttons for each slide. “Standard” preset should be default setting, not “User/Custom”. Better name it "Flat".
The audio time alignment setting (in “Surround focus”) is also useless – it has no positioning slider (like balance/fader setting has in “Channel focus”) and the parameters are unclear – do they add or subtract delay? Moreover, the milliseconds are not exact value, and the sliders are REALY difficult to manipulate, mainly because of the scale and lack of +/- button.
In my opinion Time alignment must have enable/disable toggle (instead of reset/turn off button) and positioning slider with additional preset value buttons (driver, passenger, center/all – just like in “Channel focus”), as well as +- buttons for delay value slider. For some reason DUDU7 has some of this, but DUDU4 doesn’t???) There should also be a help note, explaining exactly how TA is implemented and what algorithm it uses.
Subwoofer and all related settings (low/high pass filters etc.) are not user friendly and with quite unfamiliar layout and parameter values. There should be available an initial wizard for speaker setup, that can configure the accessible audio settings accordingly. In any case, Subwoofer settings should be grouped separately and must have proper enable/disable toggle, which affects all related filter settings, including time alignment.
“Loudness” should offer at least 3 different levels to pick from.
“Speaker power regulation” slide should be given in percentage and/or dB scale with 0 (default), plus and minus scale.
there should be a setting to give the ability to apply low pass (min 12 dB slope) filters for front and rear speakers independently (calculated according to their diameter/size) to remove the excessive low frequencies that those speakers are not able to replay anyway but will generate nasty distortions.
Volume control is not functioning properly. There should be immersive/separate volume control function (controlled by main volume controls, but independent from main volume) for build in navigation and Android auto voice and warning notifications, as well as for Bluetooth calls. The second navigation volume slider (I mean what opens with the 3 dots in main volume slide) is simply not working. The additional sound level compensation settings (actually the only sound mixer I have found) are useful in general but cannot fulfill the above-mentioned function.
In my opinion Volume control must have the ability to control (independent from main volume) immersive sound level for main navigation instructions/warnings and voice/sound notifications (while they last) as well as for AA navigation (Waze for example) and Bluetooth call. The 3 dots menu in the main volume slider should be able to open the whole sound mixer, similar to every smartphone.
In other words, in “Audio mix settings” > “Navigation/Audio mix” and “Alert sound mixings” there should be settings allowing to set permanent volume level for selected app, which is not changing by main Volume setting during normal use, but only while the sound notification is played. For me, these settings don’t do anything at all (Edit: Immersive volume control is currently working properly only for BT phone calls, when "Navigation/Audio mix" is off and Bluetooth phone is selected in "Apps for audio mixing").
When resetting all audio settings (EQ, TA, filters and etc.) the interface should simply apply their default parameters and/or switch their toggles to off state, without altering the sound level.
It can also be considered in the future to offer users the ability to choose between Parametric EQ and simple bass/mid/treble control, and to be added adaptive auto sound level control (lossless sound level compressor) to automatic adjust the sound level of each main source (FM Radio, Media player, BT Audio etc.).
    2. Build in microphone is almost useless. People on the other side can barely hear me, even when shouting directly in front of the screen. Couldn’t find any settings to adjust level/sensitivity, echo/noise reduction, actually there are no related settings at all.
I know it is capacitive type and the location in the front panel is not optimal, but common!… The external mic of most OEM HU is same passive type, located above my head near the windscreen and at almost same distance from my mouth, but they work like a charm. This must be fixed!
    3. In the “Startup settings” > “Ignition-Off Head Unit Status” sleep/shutdown delay slider should be in the range from 0 to let’s say 30 seconds (1s resolution) and again it is missing +- buttons. 3-4 seconds are usually quite enough to prevent restarting HU during engine ignition/startup phase. There should be an option to manually choose the car battery voltage level threshold under which the head unit will transition automatically from sleep to shutdown state (to prevent further battery drain). Most android HUs simply have preset for 1, 2 or 3 days wait time to enter turn off state, but this is not always optimal.
    4. Screen scalability is not ok. Android Navigation buttons in the home screen are simply too small, some apps like Spotify look small and do not utilize effectively the screen space.
    5. Autoplay function doesn’t work most of the time, especially with Spotify and similar players (tried all appropriate setting with no success). Apparently, OS does not start/keep player in background.
    6. CarLink 2.0 lacks some important settings every AA emulator should have (such as GPS pass-through toggle).
    7. DUDU OS 3.6 lacks (or I was unable to find it in settings) the ability to manually choose which music app should be selected by pressing repeatedly “Source” button of the car SWC and music player main widget on main screen (minimalistic view). This setting was present in the previous OS version.

If someone found solution for any of these issues, please share it.
    Thank you in advance!

    • DUDU-Meng so what's the purpose of such trigger if actions after it may not be executed? I'm struggling to see a logical explanation why such unreliable trigger would even exist?
BTW unit must know when the ACC is cut off because for instance timer can be set up to keep the HU alive until X seconds passed.

      • Hello DUDU7 Bros!

I am requesting someone to PLEASE send a photo, even a list, of all the available commands for the Steeing Weel Controls.
This is for a non-Canbus vehicle that has normal resistive Steering wheel buttons.

I want to know if there are options to bring up the Front 360 Cam, Rear 360 Cam, Screen Off (just the screen, not shirt down or sleep), and if there is a Dim + and Dim - buttons.

Also I would love to know if Long Press / Short Press can be applied to Volume + and -.
        For Example
        Short Press - Volume Down
        Long Press - Mute

Thank you very much! And PLLEEEAAASSE do consider providing the requested info!

        • Would it be possible to have water temp not from Obd adapter but from canbus data?
Same for RPM in the widgets and speed.
I have them all on canbus but duplicating with Bluetooth Obd adapter for displays which is unnecessary.

I have update 3.5, in the settings for automatic theme switching and screen brightness based on vehicle lights, there is a time delay of 10 seconds, which I did not notice for a long time, I set it to 0 seconds and it works immediately. I do not understand what it is for, but because of this, I thought that switching by lights did not work, when testing I always just quickly turned it on and off, I never waited that long.

          • Hi how can I select 360 app in pip mode. I have seen teyes unit do this and dudu7 is so much better than teyes so was thinking why cant we use it?

Also on youtube i can see the adas widget with different car model and the tpms widget also shows different car models. How can we change car models. I have a pickup truck and would love something similar shown in both tpms and adas widgets instead of a tesla looking car.

          • WiFi always on. Hotspot on mobile phone 5GHz (Samsung. Channel 149 I believe).
Turn off the engine, after just a few minutes turn back in.
Dudu shows wifi connected, Internet for any app (tidal, uapp, maps, Google voice) is unavailable for around 5 minutes.
It means no navi, no songs.
            Happens almost every time.

            • DUDU-Meng This is a big. Night mode does not apply globally. In android settings, there is no night mode option, only in dudu settings, which doesn’t apply the night mode to all apps

This is very obvious when using keyboard, play store, maps in night mode as the app stays in light mode……

            • robdx2 Bro, are you mistaken? I need to explain this to you.
CANBUS Junction Box Functions, please read carefully!
1: The basic CANBUS information is SWC, Doors, Lights, Reverse. The rest of the information depends on the OEM main unit
2: A few models need to keep the OEM main unit, then the junction box is only used to decode the basic information. The rest of the information will be viewed in the OEM system.
The CANBUS junction box is not foolproof and will not display the information you need.
The purpose of the CANBUS junction box is to allow the Android radio to display as much information from the OEM radio as possible.
When you remove the OEM mainframe and use the Android radio, the CANBUS junction box needs to send (e.g., Vehicle Controls, Door/Vehicle Info, Sensors, Tracks, AMP, SWC, etc.) information to the Android radio in order to avoid losing vehicle information and functionality, but most automotive OEM mainframes are inconsistent with some having a lot of information, and some having a little information.
For example, a Volkswagen can display tons of information while a Hyundai/Nissan displays little or no information at all. This is not a flaw in Android radios, CANBUS boxes or cars.

            • I'd like maps, or any other app to switch to night (dark) mode when Dudu switches to night theme.
So far, can't do it. All apps are switched to "follow system" but I noticed the apps take it from android system not dudu, where there is no automatic switch between dark and light mode (strange, there is in my android phone and all works, yet, not in Dudu).
Any way of doing it? I've got nice night automatic mode yet the maps burning my retinas woth white background.

            • Hi
What's the connector name used in Dudu for all cameras / canbus? These white ones? Jst? Which one?

            • Skillzo1
I am just describing the effect I saw, which does indeed not affect reversing.
However, the problem is not unsolvable. Today's new software version has removed the mandatory hiding of the front view, which perfectly solves the problem in your video. However, this fixed version cannot be released quickly and will have to wait for the next update.

              • Dear all,

Is it possible to send information to a Home Assistant server via MQtt using this launcher? If this is not possible, would it be very difficult to implement?

              • Mikescotland Ah yes, the infamous rear camera alignment crisis — humanity’s greatest threat since lukewarm coffee. I mean, let’s ignore the fact that the driver would have to be recklessly flying in reverse, blind to the world, fully trusting a camera lens that’s off by 'gasp' a few inches. Because obviously, turning your head, using mirrors, or maybe just not driving like you're escaping a heist isn’t nearly as effective as pixel-perfect precision. Yep, child safety now depends entirely on rear-view geometry. Kids would be doomed otherwise. lol

              • Hello,
In "Vehicle Leveling", when the car is on a hill it shows that it is downhill in "Pitch" and when it is tilted to the right it shows that it is to the left in "Roll".
Is there a way to turn it around?

              • widgets_moons Thank you - that solved the issue. Had to go into Android settings as you helpfully said and then the pin input came up. Everything works seamlessly now.
