  • Which Dudu7 for Fiat Ducato Van

Hi,

I am planning to buy the Dudu7 for the Fiat Ducato van that I am converting to a campervan at the moment. I plan on installing the 360 camera system.

There seems to be a lot of different models on AliExpress, does anyone know which size screen would work best? I have seen other head units come with packs specifically for a vehicle model that ensure they have the correct CANBUS translator as well as a nice trim for the unit. I'm worried that as the Ducato is not listed for Dudu7 on AliExpress that it won't be compatible.

Could anyone point me at the best model that will work in the van?

Thank you,
Shane

Dargish Contact the seller and he should be able to provide you with everything you need for your car. This devices are universal. All it differs from car to car is the plastic frame that helps you integrate it in the dashboard and the connection cables (specific connectors for every car producer). For example an 9,5" unit can be installed on Toyota Yaris, Peugeot 108 and so on. I hope you understand what I mean here. If you want to install 360 cameras be sure to specify to the seller that you want the 360 chip. There is not so good communication about this and some people that wanted to install the 360 cameras later and didn't ordered the 360 cameras with the unit found out that their unit doesn't have the chip. So again, make sure you clarify this matter with your seller.

    Hi Mihai,
Thank you for the reply, I will contact the seller on AliExpress, I have seen the warnings about the 360 IC having to be added separately. I'm surprised so many people didn't tbh, if I'm dropping £400 on a piece of kit I will research it as much as I can. Still I appreciate the heads up!

Dargish Hi, I'm doing exactly the same on a 2016 Fiat Ducato.
I got the 9.5" unit with 360 cameras (AND chip) and I'm dealing with installation now.
In order to connect the unit, since Mekede do not offer a dedicated Fiat Ducato version, you need to do some research and get adequate fitting frame, harness and canbus box. I purchased a kit on AliExpress and all seems to be working just fine. I only have to figure a detail out to make sure the unit goes to standby when powering off the van as it looks like power is being cut at the moment (meaning it needs to boot from scratch every time I start the engine).

    Hope this helps.
    Chris

Very interesting, thank you for the details. If you get it working I'd be very interested in links from you for the frame, harness and canbus adapter you used as well as any other information that would help. I'd hate to have to go for a cheaper less performant option just because Dudu don't offer their own installation pack for the Dudu7. I've been told by their support that they have no plans for now to support the Ducato.

I'm in the process of buying a 11.5" version for my camper. I've learned that with both the 13" and the 11.5" unit you get an extra bracket so it can be installed into the standard "Ducato" 9.5" frame.

How easy was the install (fearing for my life because I told my wife I would be able to install the unit myself)?

eclignett please let me know how you get on. It's a lot of money to spend on something that may not fit

        tabboz81

Any update on your install would be much appreciated...

Sorry for the late update, everyone.
This ended up taking a lot longer than I anticipated, mostly due to the number of wires I had to run to intall all the cameras and because the fascia I got with the canbus does not fit the Dudu7 well - I had to trim it in multiple areas with a Dremel.

The issue I was having with the head unit not going to standby properly was fixed after I selected the correct canbus module within the settings (I had already set it to go to standby instead of shutting down - as suggested by Mihai - but it was not wowrking properly).

So, yeah, very happy with the unit, the fascia + canbus box + wiring harness are a must, since Mekede does not have anything Ducato specific, but once those are sorted it's worth the effort, especially if you get 360 chip and cameras like I did.
I will try and post a couple pictures in the next few days.

eclignett i just installed in my Ducato RV and it was very easy.everything was included with cables and frame. I bought from Tony at duduato on alibaba. . Perfect fit. 11,5 inch
The only thing i did not get was the canbus adaper.så that i need to buy if i will need it

Rocksteady74 I was told they didn't have one for the Ducato. Have they added a new listing?

tabboz81 would you mind linking to the items you had to purchase for this? The frame and CANBUS adapter are what I'm unsure of.

Dargish Canbus box, fascia and cable harness I got from AliExpress, here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007646742233.html
Depending on your current setup you can choose the adequate fascia and wire harness. My 2016 Ducato needed what they call "frame cable cabus-2B". Worked well but I had to modify the fascia to make everything fit adequately.

                tabboz81 brilliant, thank you

I bought directly from Mekede and they supplied everything needed.
It installed fairly easily and basically works.
Plug & play, no wiring changes needed.
But I am having difficulty setting the canbus details in the OS.
There doesn't seem to be anything that matches the canbus decoder they supplied (Simplesoft RP5-FT-002)

                    Hi All,

I have recently purchased the Dudu7 with a 360 camera system and the tyre pressure monitoring system.

As most of you...I bought the system to have installed in my Roller Team 740 T Line motor home which is a Fiat Ducato 2019.

I bought the system direct from the Mekede mall.

                    I am hoping someone in the group could point me in the right direction with regards to;

1). setting up the canbus system (Mekede have included this in the kit)

2). Where have some of you positioned the side camera's for the 360 system...on a regular car it is positioned in the wing mirrors...is it the same for a motor home..??

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Please, could verify if you were able to get your 360° Cameras working on your 2016 Fiat Ducato?

                    If so:

                    • Where did you mount the cameras?
                    • Where did you purchase cable extensions for the cameras?
                    • What cameras did you use for side cameras?
                    • Where did you buy your Side cameras?

Thank you VERY much for any information you can provide.

                      ManOfScience

Hi...I've not fitted the camera system as yet.

I have only just pulled out the original xzent stereo and now working out what wires go where....unfortunately for me...my wiring loom is not standard...so need to work it all out.

As soon as I get this done...than I will start to run the wires for the cameras..I will let you know when I get to that stage.

Are you doing the same on a Fiat Ducato..??

                        Dargish

on installing DUDU7 360 cameras in a van.

Verify exactly what someone else did AND where they bought ALL of the parts before spending $$$!

Installing into a van is not what Mekede or DUDU designed the DUDU7 for. It can be done, but you need to design your own solution. To do that, you will need the technical specifications of your hardware. That is NOT easy to find.

I asked several sellers for technical info before I bought - (to verify it would work and plan the install) and none would provide it. Not even the dimensions of the hardware! I bought anyway based on advertising images and user reviews thinking the hardware is all the same and it therefore doesn't matter about the seller. The seller I chose did not know that DUDU7 was not designed for my type of vehicle (...or they lied). They were wrong about several things about DUDUAUTO/Mekede Products. Now I deeply regret buying from that seller. I wasted a lot of $$$ and have no help for problems.

If the seller cannot give you more information than is in the product advertisement -DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
