Optical pass-through output is really bad with the DUDU7 unfortunately. Max volume is too low and the sound quality is not very good.

USB pass-through output is normal and seems pretty good ... with navigation voice, it stops the sound and I can hear the navigation voice at a lower volume. seems fine. still need to test with phone calls and Whatsapp.

Using Helix DSP Amplifier V Eight MKII.

No, i only have optical digital input on V Eight MKIi.
For DUDU7 usb passthrough, i am using a usb to optical adapter (Douk Audio U2).

So DUDU7 optical passthrough to Helix optical input = very bad

So DUDU7 usb digital passthrough to Douk U2 to Helix optical input = awesome

Are you able to control all volume with the Dudu or do you use Conductor or Director with the Helix?

I haven't bought yet because I'm trying to sort this out first. If I can't I'm getting a Kenwood lol

It is digital .. so the sound quality is perfect .. check the RAW-Cat youtube videos for his testing of digital signals from android headunits, eg Joying, Atoto, etc .. they are all very good.

any update's on this topic, the digital COAX has a lot of alternator whine noise.

I will try the optical input, but will also be worse.

DieselManiac i made a post about this which didn’t get any traction. I found a very unusual solution, which leads me to think that the issue is more with the quality of usb connections or potential ground looping thru the usb connection. I connected my usb powered dac to an external power source not connected to my car. It works. No noise whatsoever with my dac maxed out. I have a Milwaukee power tool 18v battery connected to a cheap Amazon 12v charger for cell phones. I only connect the dac to that. Clean signal. Crazy how that worked. I had been chasing the noise for almost 2 months. And I have all kinds of gadgets connected to my car including a full mini pc that I use to make music in my car using the Dudu 7 as a monitor 🫠

I use optical and it's amazing if the sound is low for you like mine was I fix it by making it louder from the amp

Can I ask why some users are using a usb- c to optical converter lead for sound rather than just using a usb to usb connection.
What's the advantage please?

Chrisjohn some DSP only take optical. Only Helix DSP allows extension card for adding USB input.

abidali I have the latest Feelart dsp/amp with built in dac, also has usb input as well as high/low level and optical.
I will try both optical and usb.

dudu0101 What actually makes the quality “bad”? You can still achieve near full range digital signal even if it’s being resampled, it’s just being passed through the DSP chip. In fact, it sounded identical in quality to the high level outputs feeding my helix.

Optical connection is much more easier to handle. No ground loops, no USB active extension necessary.

I would really like to use the usb-c output as my music source but don't want to lose sound from YouTube, Google maps etc.
Is this something that can be done in a future update or is this never going to be possible ?

You can use it already. The only which doesn't work is the audio output from phone. With 3.6 I didn't tested this, perhaps it's working now.

Just use a USB DAC if you must have a clean signal. You can also use the optical output, just activate bypass, set Volume to max and change the values in "Balance Sound" from 5 to 10. I doubt you can here a difference, especially while driving.

Hello, when this optical connection is resolved. i have high end dsp/audio system in my car and i need clean optical signal. so i cant use this heand unit until optical output is fixed.
is there are any timeline when this happens ?

janis the optical is not the issue, at least on my end. My dac requires usb power. That was the issue. At least for me.
