I think I'm gonna need a therapist after messing with thing. First, let me set the backround for this "journey" and I apologize in advance if this gets long-winded but I'm assuming other users of this Dudu7 would understand the frustration. I, along with everone else who parts with their hard earned money, just want something that works.

I received my "brand new" Dudu7 not in original packaging but in a standard cardboard box wrapped in bubblewrap as a Christmas gift from my better half. It came already mounted in the dashmount and install was easy and straightforward. Unfortunately, there were many micro-scratches on the screen already but once the unit is powered up they become invisible so I'm willing to overlook paying $800 for something that was obviously used if it functions correctly. Well, allow me to list my woes.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, is intuitive at all with this thing.

USB, the most musically accurate output, does not allow Carplay output. Not that Carplay is the best for sound quality but it is an easy to use alternative to the very buggy stock launcher. I do have a DSP that accepts toslink as well so I'm using that instead.
Updating firmware is a crap-shoot. Fix one problem, introduce ten more.

2a. Updated to 3.7 and can no longer select what apps I want in the music widget popup. There are 3 "stock" apps and one spot to add my own. The stock apps are static and won't allow me to change them with the normal long-press.
2.b Since Carplay won't allow me to use my iPhone hotspot I decided to just use the unit as intended. Before updating I was able to set my phone to create a hotspot automatically after connecting to bluetooth as long as the USB menu in Factory Settings is set to "none" as I have the TPMS dongle and that apparently makes the unit think I'm using Carplay and turns on it's own hotspot thus turning off wifi. That workaround no longer functions. As soon as I connect to bluetooth the unit turns on it's hotspot. I now can't have automation do it's thing.
2.c After the update, the sound is different. Way less midbass, more shrill and hollow on the mids and highs, though slightly more open. I now have to redo all of my tuning to compensate. And before you ask, yes I turned all the Volume Settings to 30 and below.
2.d I purchased a usb volume knob as it's just easier to use. You would think that holding down a volume icon would continuously change the volume but no, you have to hit the volume and use the popup slider to change volume quickly. Anyway, that usb knob worked once on the Dudu and hasn't worked since. I tried it on my Android tablet and it works fine every time.

Anyway, I'm getting myself pretty worked up while typing this so I think I should stop typing but I'll end with a couple more problems.

Bluetooth devices (SWC, TPMS, OBD, etc.) randomly connect or diconnect when starting the vehicle
Menus are rediculous to navigate and change every update.
DPI settings for PIP used to be a slider and now just say Low, Med, High and seem to make no difference making Google Maps and other apps unusable as the font is too small.
Reverting back to old versions is a ridiculous process that I have researched and will be attempting today
VERY loud and annoying pop through the speakers on restart. If I blow my speakers because of this POS......

I really could go on and on but I have to prepare for another few hours of fiddling with this thing to attempt to make it work like an actual head unit. It has consumed my life and my wife, the person who helped me purchase this thing, is now about ready to break it herself. Too late honey, it's already broken, ......always was.

Out of curiosity, is anyone aware of a version of this software that actually functions as intended? I have it installed on a tablet as a launcher using the "Global" version and everything seems to work great. Of course the menus are different and there's no PIP but I'd be willing to sacrifice as really it's all about function and the music for me.
