DUDU7 CPU gets very hot +80C

My unit (DUDU7 12G 512G 11" with 360) of only a few months old is getting very hot CPU temperatures.

I am using the app DevInfo Overlay and have selected the SOC temperature sensor to display the CPU temperature.
The fan is at default setting so turns on when the sensor above shows +60C.

I have turned screen brighness down to 0 during the day which is still good enough to read, the unit feels warm to the touch which is normal.
I have seen a few Launcher crashes in the last few days, that might have been related to the CPU heat.

The units temperature rises to 60C within 30 minutes of use and mostly remains between 60-70C but that is with about 40-60% CPU use, when being pushed to 90-100% usage the temps go up to 80-90C I have seen.

The unit is installed in a Fiat Ducato RV and is driven for 6-8 hours a day on a normal trip.

I have reset to factory settings as well today and I have reloaded the 3.6 firmware a few times as well but the issue seems to remain the same.

The unit is purchased from the Mekede Mall wbsite after contact through Whatsapp, they advised me to post here first.

Any tips from anybody? But on Telegram the reponses where already these temps where too high and I have to agree on that. I'd like to get the unit replaced with a new one to hopefully solve these issues.

SDeath are you using when AC is off in the car? I live in a region with summer temperature soaring near 45°c and with AC on, it remains normal to the touch.

abidali I live in the Netherlands, so surely not as hot as where you live.
It was 32C a few days ago and that is about as hot as it gets here, AC was on and the CPU was mostly between 60-70C, but after a few stops end of the day it went up to 80-90C CPU temperature.

The image above was yesterday while I was parked inside my garage, no direct sunlight on the car, inside the garage it was 25C and outside 17C.
And the CPU was already nearly 70C.

With my previous radio (passively cooled), summer was never an issue, the winters where the problem when we have the heating in full blast when we are in Sweden or Norway during the winter.
So winters will be even worse I am afraid.
Something must be wrong with my unit if yours can keep up with 45C summer temperatures.

Temperatures like these are not sustainable in the long run.

Don’t worry—your DUDU7 device has passed rigorous temperature testing. The UIS7870 SOC (System-on-Chip) inside it is automotive-grade (AEC-Q100 certified) and designed to operate normally even at temperatures up to 120°C.

For this chip, a working temperature range of 50°C–100°C is entirely normal. While the temperatures you’re observing (60°C–90°C under load) may feel high, they are within the SOC’s safe operational limits.

That said, if you’re experiencing frequent launcher crashes or performance issues, here are a few suggestions:

Check background apps: High CPU usage (80–100%) could stem from unnecessary background processes.
Firmware updates: Confirm you’re on the latest firmware (beyond 3.6) for potential optimizations.

If problems persist, you may upload the crash log from the DUDU CRASH directory for further diagnostics. The SOC’s durability is assured, but hardware/software conflicts could still occur.

YAOXILONG thanks for your reply and reassurance.
I will setup the unit again and keep on using it like normal and when new crashes arise I will upload the crash log as requested.

I will try to add some extra cooling inside the mounting frame to help with better airflow.

3.6 doesn’t feel as stable as 3.5 did during the weeks I was setting things up so might be a firmware issue then.

Yes as said the fan is enabled and turns on @60C which is the default setting.

I have added 4x Noctua fans on the bottom of the frame that sucks in air from the cabin and engulf the entire backside of the unit with fresh air, hopefully this helps with fresh air for the unit while running.

SDeath Damn, I was misled and thought I can replace internal fan with Noctua, but it turned out that it has no frame inside (link).

How did you connect your additional fan?

kryzys There are some pictures on the Telegram groups about a modified Noctua fan, I actually bought one extra maybe for the future, but you will have to cut op the frame from the fan to make it fit the cooling block.
But for now I will leave the unit itself stock, don't want to mess up warranty.
I bought a PWM extra as the other 4 are also PWM, and I think the original fan is not a PWM but just on/off.

This looks interesting. Are your temperatures better now? My Dudu7 11.5" gets also pretty hot.

LXander not sure if it helped much. I did a full factory reset as well.
I am going to Norway now for 4 weeks and will see what happens.
Right now the weather is great and about 21C outside with lots of sun and CPU temp is 70C now after the first 3 hours of driving and a half hour stop. But since I was told now that even up to 120C is acceptable I am still below with a big safety margin.
