  • Mazda Integration & Questions

I'm surprised there isn't a single post regarding Mazdas so far. Anyway I've ordered my 11.5" DUDU7 unit and it's on its way, but I have some questions I can't find answers to anywhere. I'd appreciate some help/answers.

I have a 2016 Mazda 3 (manual transmission) with the infotainment system.

  1. Since ordering the DUDU head unit, I'm suddenly concerned about not having access to the settings that the OEM head unit provides. Things get reset when you disonnect the battery etc or you may want/need to access the engineering menu - there are situations where it's needed. So has anyone come up against this problem and is there any way to access the stock settings of the Mazda? Will there ever be a way?

  2. How does the DUDU7 unit integrate with the Bose system that comes with my car? It has an amp already. Is there a way to bypass the DUDU amp so things aren't being doubly amplified? Will the DUDU7 unit assign channels correctly etc? Will it map well and use the Bose amp properly?

  3. Does the control knob and surrounding buttons work with the DUDU unit? I know the steering wheel controls should work because of the canbus, but what about those console controls?

  4. Is Mazda OBD integration in DUDUOS yet? If not, will it be eventually?

Basically I'm just trying to do my due diligence (which I should have done BEFORE buying I guess, but these things didn't occur to me until afterwards) before I go to the cost and trouble of installing the head unit. I'll get someone pro to do it because I simply can't be bothered to do it myself this time.

I appreciate any answers and info people can offer! I'm sure this will be useful in the future for other Mazda owners also.

Maybe not too many users of Mazda here. But as your unit is in the way then you will find out soon how it works with DUDU. Please share your info then!

Yes, please share your insights later.
As for my Honda Civic 9th Gen that also came with an external amplifier, and for your question 2, yes double amplification can happen and yes, it may be a problem because you would then hear constant hissing which is quite annoying.
My remedy was to use a special hi-low adapter from Incartec that allowded to decrease the gain by channel manually by a potentiometer (= a simple screw). If you hear hissing, don't panic but remember my words ;-)

I'll probably just return it as, to be honest, I can't really afford it right now anyway. The main reason is my concern about losing access to the stock menus and settings. They can be really important if anything goes wrong with your car or you have to reset things after you've disconnected the battery etc. If DUDU end up adding support for all the stock features in the future, I'll buy it again immediately. LIke some of those generic FYT units where you can still access the original OS, but for now, I feel it would be a lot of cost and effort for a less-than-ideal solution.

You can access the original menu setup items as well as CD and vehicle information. All of this information can be displayed and controlled while CANBUS is connected to the vehicle. I look forward to sharing with you the first Mazda case after installation!

    Hi there,
Im sharing my experience trying to install a new dudu7 on my Mazda cx3 2019 so far:

It was very hard for me to connect all the wires because there is not space enough between wires, the case frame, and the head unit. Eventuallly I did it.

The first time I could turn on the machine the sound volume was very very high. "Wellcome administrador" I think it said.
I tried to low the volumen with Mazda oem controls but they dont seem to work. So Canbus wasnt ok. I tried to search in settings but I couldnt see my Mazda model and I dediced to try next morning because it was late night...

Next morning my car didnt start... I unplugged everything and install again my old oem radio and the car didnt start either. Dead battery. I could recover it with a powerstarter but there is a battery warning menssage and istop doesnt work.

So I dont know what to do next. I dont want to install it again before I know what could happened.

If someone could help I will thank you a lot.

Dornstud24 When installing again, double check that the cable connections are correct, see these instructions https://wiki.dudu-auto.com/en/installation/wirings.
Make sure the connections are correct and start the car
Battery is dead: cable connection may be incorrect, you can test Starting the car/shutting down the vehicle Does the DUDU7 start/shut down synchronously
1: In Setup - Car - CANBUS - Model Selection - select Mazda - cx3, plug the serial port into the C area on the back of the device, at this time the buttons on the steering wheel can control the volume; if you don't know how to use it, in Setup - Car - Square Hole Button Learning, you can learn the corresponding buttons
2: After restoring the power supply, you need to let the vehicle drive a certain distance before the warning prompts disappear.

This is encouraging! These are many of the settings I was worried about.

Another thing I'm wondering about - what happens if I need to take this to Mazda dealership or other mechanic because of some warning light/DTC? Will their scan tools work normally?

DarkKnight108 Yes, any fault code will show the cause of the fault

        Hi there,

I’m using a Mazda and recently installed the latest DUDU screen.
        I have a few questions:

In the CD CAR section that you’ve mentioned before — with options like bass, treble, Bose center, etc. — do those settings still actually work after installing the DUDU head unit?

When I adjust those values, does the sound change immediately?

Or are those options just display-only now and don’t have any real effect?

Also, if I change bass, treble, or Bose center in that menu, will it conflict with the EQ settings in the DUDU system?

I find the audio settings in DUDU OS quite overwhelming — there are so many options like EQ, fader, balance, DSP, surround effect, etc.
Could you kindly guide me on how to best tune the EQ for a Mazda (with the 10-speaker Bose system)?

        Really appreciate your help!

        Hi!

I’ve accessed that section as you mentioned, but on my Mazda CX-5, I don’t see all the sound options like treble, bass, etc., as shown in your screenshot. (OS 3.6)

On my screen, there are only two options: Bose Centerpoint and Bose AudioPilot.
However, I can’t make any changes to those — when I tap them, nothing happens.
They just stay fixed like in the screenshot I’ve attached, and I can’t toggle or adjust them at all.

Could you please let me know:

Is it because my car doesn’t support those sound settings?

Or is it possibly a bug or system limitation?

What should I do if I want to enable or adjust the original treble and bass settings like you showed?

        Thanks again for your support
        !

Tienphongbkhn What CANBUS brand are you using?
Please provide the version information of DUDU

          Mazda cx3 2020

Pickachu47 Do you mean all the settings in the vehicle information? After the settings are completed, if you turn off the engine and restart it, the settings will not be remembered?

Thanks for the reply not all the settings only the maintenance for oil change and tire change
