  • How to force-close apps quickly?

As in the title, I was experiencing Waze being laggy, as in the car stops and the map doesn't update. Then I was wondering how to quickly and efficiently close and restart the app to fix this?
In a running car doing it the tedious way through Android Settings --> Apps --> Force close
was possible but much too difficult.

Before I could use Toppal to close apps by saying "close xyz". Now, with Google Assistant on the SWC key, closing apps is not supported. Does anybody know a smarter / quicker way?

If that is not possible, I could imagine this to become a new feature request.

top left corner of waze app is icon / gear to get into settings. Shut down waze is last option on the list.

In Navbar config you can add an icon for recent apps and that allows you to close. I tend to end all using the paper bin, the ones in PIP will restart.

What I am doing now whenever (mostly Waze) an app behaves oddly or freezes, I drag down from the top of the screen to open the "top bar" which I have enabled in the settings. That would show me the old-style open apps next to each other where I can quickly wipe away the frozen app to make it restart again if it is a PIP app like Waze is in most cases.

Works best so far for me.

HondaCivicDriver silly question but what and where is the setting you changed for drop down function of toolbar.......

    i use this

Bettman66 Thank you for this pic. I do not have a bottom task bar right now. Does that button force close open apps or does it minimize them to off screen?

This is the same button as in the top bar for opening the window of apps in the background and with the trash can you can close all apps. @gismo posted this.

Bettman66 Thx, that's an even better way to close apps. I didnt know about this "hidden" setting for the navbar.
