I'm in the same boat. It is just too bright in the dark.
My guess is that the hardware that DUDU has is not capable to go lower in brightness and that is why they did the "Extreme dark" option as a workaround. If I'm right, which I hope I'm not, this will never be solved.
DUDU7 - Night display brightness too bright
I am on the same boat too.
I was thinking of cutting a tinting film to the shape of the screen and apply it on the screen. A kind of natural ND filter.
It will mess with the colors of the screen and with the peak brightness too. Not a very elegant solution.
Please address this issue, the radio is really annoying after dark.
It is possible to set saturation, brightness and color when in reverse gear settings.
Maybe this could also work for normal use?
Seems like proper ability to adjust the intensity of the actual backlight is missing. Huge issue.
Es scheint niemanden zu interessieren.
Ist wie bei TPMS und Canbus.
Scheint ein sensibles Thema zu.
Und bevor was falsches gesagt wird, wird lieber nichts gesagt.
The DUDU7 has an Extreme Dark Mode, which allows you to go even lower than the minimum brightness.
Other models can only set the brightness to the lowest setting, and with the right nighttime theme
I have a 9.36" DUDU7, same problem. It's unusable and dangerously blinding at night, especially considering there's no dark mode (???? seriously????) So you have a blinding, bright white screen that can't dim to a reasonable level, even by going into the android settings.
I bought the DUDU7 because supposedly the software is AMAZING and free of bugs. It's been a mess IMHO so far. The little robot assistant that calls me "Master" is creepy as hell. Fortunately I was able to turn him off. But no dark mode? No brightness adjustment? After a year or so of complaints? I'm going to have to return this and figure something else out, maybe go with an older 7862 unit.

ekolpeezee There is a dark mode. But it is bound to the lights, or you can set it manually but then you also have to manually adjust the brightness whenever you manually change theme.
You can set day and night theme and set brightness level.
We are referring to the extreme night mode. When you turn it on the backlight is still to bright.
It looks like backlight bleeding but on the whole screen.
Go to settings/Display and Theme. There you can set it up.
