Note for others in UK, I have used Lebara (Vodafone) 4/5g sim card with data, minutes and texts all included without issue. Currently now running a Three data only sim without issue. Both connected straight away but then they both use the almost the same bands. May help someone

Sharing my experience: My internet provider offered me 1 year free mobile service so I decided to give it a try. Astound Internet on the T-Mobile wireless network.

Was unable to activate the new line directly from Dudu7, either thru a webpage or their android APP so I called customer support. They would not accept dudu7 IMEI, advising that "tablets" did not qualify. My workaround was to provide them the IMEI of my current cell phone. They accepted and activated the line. I also asked for the APN info during this call.
With SIM in head unit, it showed 4G network with increasing data usage but I was still unable to use the internet.
I had 3 APNs displaying on the head unit but none of them worked or matched the APN that was provided to me during the original support call.
Manually added the provided APN astound.wholesale.mmsmnvo.com in head unit and after a reboot I had full internet access. Did not have to input any other APN data like port info, APN type, server, etc.

Network speeds during my first test were 15mb up/down.

Im going to be trying my 3rd sim card in a few days. Currently have a tello sim which runs on tmobile using apn whoesale. Its connects very fast to 4g but speeds dont seem that great and consistent. Also disconnects alot. $25 monthly unlimited data

Verizon sim… takes forever to connect sees a little bit better speeds then the tello and seems a little more reliable. $10-$15 a month either or is unlimited data. This price is due to me having a verizon cell phone and home internet

T mobile sim tomorrow. My wife has a tmobile plan so im going to add a device. Going to see if this is a little more reliable then the tello sim since its a direct t mobile plan/sim. $20 monthly because she has Tmobile cell service. I may try your apn setting.

I was going to try us mobile and darkstar but its very expensive monthly. It switched beyween t mobilr verizon and att.

Im still unsure from what im experiencing if its even worth it. With moving around on 4g im not really convinced its reliably usable for a monthly cost. The rafios dont support enough usa bands on top of being in a car which hurts the signal. Cell phones are way better for this use.

Skillzo1 Ya, I'm outside the Boston area, overall good cell coverage. I spent a good amount of time in the car tonight traveling around local towns and speeds were 25/35, 30/35, 32/34 (down/up). Testing while at stop lights and when driving 50+ mph made no difference. I listen to a lot of podcasts and didn't have any connection drops, haven't tried streaming videos yet. It's an instant connection when I start the car though, confirmed via weather widget on home screen.

Try letting a long youtube video stream. See how that does or even stream a movie.

Skillzo1 two hours of streaming video today while on the highway going 80mph from MA to NH. Zero drops. It's got my seal of approval.

Actually the t mobile sim is working very well. Guess ill be sticking with it. Much more reliable then the rest.

If anyone else is reading this and you have a verizon sim… .please report your experience with trying it in the dudu7.

Was getting your Tmobile sim working tricky in anyway? Did you just add a line or are you using pre-paid?

Skillzo1 I'm using a Verizon sim and am not having a good time. Takes forever for 4g to connect after waking the head unit. Randomly drops 4g connection completely causing issues with navigation and music steaming making the whole experience rather terrible.

Isk my girlfirend has a t mobile account. I have a friend that works for t mobile. They activated a device in her account and gave me the sim. Popped it in and thats it.

Isk no but again i new someone at t mobile. Getting a sim was the issue with verizon. Not sure if t mobile is the same way but i dont think so. Verizon activates a device thru its imei number. And if its not compitable when trying to register it… they wont give you a sim. T mobile may be a little different.

Skillzo1 If you havent tried, I'd just give verizon a compatible imei and get the APN info...like i did with tmobile.

picasso1850 i have… on my verizon account… the imei is correct for the device i added which is a samsung tablet. They just used a dummy imei/tablet to bypass that part of the registration. Then your allowed to enter the correct imei which is correct on my account for the device. The apn is also correct with pin unlocked. Google search reveals it is the correct verizon apn and others are using it for different devices.

I did not however register the dudus imei # to the sim. Im not sure if thats possible. Maybe i can poasibly get them to try that. But im not sure that would matter as plenty of people pop a sim out of a different device and transfer that sim to a new device with different imei.

I would really like to here another users experience with a verizon sim. The t mobile sim has very very limited drops and connects fast. The verizon is complete opposite.

Skillzo1 I am having the same exact problem. It takes minutes for the data to kick in after the head unit wakes from sleep. The data still randomly turns off which has been affecting music and navigation.

kaiiser i have unwillingly moved to a t mobile sim. I wanted verizon sim for mentioned reasons above. But i could not get it to work consistently. I had all the issues your mentioning.

One thing i would have liked to try is changing the imei on the radio to match the verizon sim/device. There is a way to change the imei on the radio. I didnt know this till it was too late and i cancelled my verizon added device. Maybe if the dudu radio imei matches the verizon device imei it will work better. But im not going to spend the $ again to add a device and try. LMK PLEASE if you try doing this and report back.

Other then that my tmobile sim has been working pretty darn good.

Skillzo1 I did change the imei for my verizon sim and even that did not help. I have a Tello sim coming in a few days that I will try out and hopefully it works.

Skillzo1 Brother. Today I tried something I saw mentioned in another forum. Someone said to put some paper between the sim and the metal bracket that holds the sim down. Apparently this sim card slot is not very good and needs more pressure. I cut three small pieces of paper and used that in between the sim and the metal bracket. I drove around for an hour and had no issues with drops in data. It still took a minute for the data to connect when waking the device but so far the results has been much better! Will keep testing to see if this really was just an issue with the sim card slot not having good enough contact.
