Hello,

I am installing a 10” Dudu 7 head unit in my 2011 Chevy Silverado 2500HD WT (work truck trim). I managed to get past the fact the GM doesn’t have an ACC wire in the wire harness for the factory head unit. I have the dvr, square steering wheel buttons and gps antenna working well. My problem is that I no longer have any warning chimes, turn signal sounds, etc that were played through the old head unit. From what I’m reading, it’s probably because GM has a “low speed GMLAN serial data wire” in the one body harness. I suspect that it needs to be connected to the CanBus, but I can’t verify if that idea is correct or what wire it should connect to. My guess is C8 for the CanBus wire harness.

Should choose daojun CANBUS

I just changed it, I can’t upload a picture, but the results haven’t changed. If I use the hazard lights or turn signals, it doesn’t make a noise to let you know that the signals are on.

In case you're still around...I have a 2010 Silverado. You need to have a separate speaker unit with your canbus box and harness, otherwise you will not get any warning chimes. Otherwise, our trucks are pretty old and have very basic canbus. The max you will get is door opening display and chimes and the other functions like dim the screen with headlights on are not canbus related to my knowledge.

Just curious, where did you get your ACC from? I had the same struggle, ended up using the BCM under the driver's knee panel.

mikep47 Just a quick question. I have car kia sportage 2012, with no canbus. i am looking to add it by tapping from the BCM , then connecting to canbus by Raise (which works well for similar car with the canbus pinouts to the headunit).
Can you please tell me which wires (pins) did you connect from the BCM to the canbus? That is CAN L and CAN-H to which pin or wire on the canbus?

maxingato I don't have this car so i cannot suggest anything to you, it could be harmful to the car to use the wrong power source. I had to use BCM due to no availability of other accessory power that also turns off with ignition. I recommend you try to look for this type of power source somewhere else that is more safe to tap into, ie. into one of the fuses with a fuse tap.
My canbus box is a GM-SS-05 by Simplesoft, so i cannot give you any good info for your unit.

TLDR: I think you may have misunderstood my post, I used a BCM pin only to power the canbus box, and not for any canbus function

I thought the GM-SS-05 provided an ACC for you to use. Is this not the case?

Teklock It says it's supposed to but the wire it linked up with at the connector was a canbus wire which lead me to believe that the oem radio wakes by canbus and not regular acc. I tried to reach out to the maker of the box but never got a reply. So i ended up having to run my own acc for it from whatever was available as the screen was not waking with the signal from that canbus wire alone.

I think it was somewhere in this github I saw the ACC is a command https://github.com/cxsichen/helllo-world/blob/master/%E5%8D%8F%E8%AE%AE/%E7%9D%BF%E5%BF%97%E8%AF%9A/GM%E8%BD%A6%E5%9E%8B%E4%B8%B2%E5%8F%A3%E9%80%9A%E4%BF%A1%E5%8D%8F%E8%AE%AE_XP_1.1.9.pdf

There is a Windows app in there also that simulates a HU and what the canbus box is supposed to do.

https://github.com/cxsichen/helllo-world/blob/master/%E5%8D%8F%E8%AE%AE/%E7%9D%BF%E5%BF%97%E8%AF%9A/GM_XP%201.1.9.1.exe.%E9%87%8D%E5%91%BD%E5%90%8D That is the Windows app I used with a USB to TTL RS232 and connected it to the RX/TX that normally connects to the HU. With that you should be able to see how the ACC is supposed to work. I think anyway, it's been a few weeks since I missed with it. With all the info in that repo, I should be able to get my decoder box working with my GM car.

Teklock Neat, thanks for that, could be useful. I actually took a look in automotive service data and confirmed the original radio has a full time power only, no ACC, and wakes by canbus (dark green wire across all the modules).

I bet if you played around with different vehicles you will find one that understands your trucks' ACC command which will turn on that red wire coming out of the canbus box. Hook up a multimeter and selected different vehicles....
