Hello,
is it possible to use some kind of lockscreen? I couldn't find anything. As the Dudu7 is a tablet with lots of personal information (e.g. Google Account) I think it should be possible. Two scenarios come to mind:

Someone just plain steals the headunit
The car is at a shop to be worked on. It would be like leaving an unlocked tablet in the car...

MihaiFlorin hope its just a lock feature and doesn't disable the functionality of the HU. I really enjoyed bringing my car to the mechanic a few weeks ago and it recorded all of their actions and audio discussions about what might be wrong with my car.....Bonus was watching the mechanic open my center console and rummage thru my spare change. lol.

Hmm, recording people seems a bit odd to me, I don't want to use my HU for that.

Bananarama lol, it wasn't voyeurism dude. It was my dash cams recording their test drives and diagnostic talk, not secret cams attempting to catch them in the act

picasso1850 I understand that one would do that out of scepticism towards shops. Had bad experiences myself, still, that's nothing I'd use my HU for. Because of that I'd put a lockscreen above the possibility to record people unknowingly. I totally respect other opinions, pleas do the same without putting words in my mouth.

The cameras record audio and video when the car is driven...thats all. I put no words in your mouth but I'll end this engagement..

Nah, no translation issue here. Maybe I just don't get why it's a thing to record people. Sounds totally different in your first post. I'm happy to stay on topic.

Maybe to put an end to this: What was the conclusion in the thread you linked @surfer63? We're there any pros and cons discussed? Maybe rooting and/or using tasker would be an option

These units, and that is all Android head units, did remove the Google keyguard part. As such that is a very logical decision as you do not want your screen to lock and "go on black" while driving. It is simply not possible to lock these units. There are ways using 3rd party libraries to create a lock screen that is overlaid over the normal screens (I shared an example of my app). However, this requires it to be builtin to the system to overcome all actions from the system software. That is what I suggested in that other post.

surfer63 Usually it's possible to deactivate timebased dimming / screen lock in android, combined with android smart lock /extended unlock this would be perfect...

I know, but that is with standard Android functionality compiled into the kernel.
That is what I am trying to explain. This is not a standard Android kernel and this entire source code and functionality has been removed. That is why I mentioned that the Android keyguard source code and functionality has been removed.

Don't worry, I know my way around, started with Timur and and a Nexus 7.

So it would be possible to provide the kernel where it's still included, at least if it's not breaking anything In the DuduOS Rom.

You said it's already being developed, so I figure the developers are working on a user friendly way to implement this. Hoping for news in the near future.

No, for a kernel including the specific hardware driver, you need the sources. They are not available. It is still an old monolithicc kernel, not using Android Automotive.
It is under development, but don't expect it within a month (I think).
On XDA and 4PDA a lot has been written about these FYT units.

Simple have the radio unlock when your Bluetooth phone connects or simple code on start up

My wife also drives the car and the unit BT only connects to the first phone. You manually have to connect to another phone, which then becomes the first phone.
It means that my wife will drive the car with a locked unit.
No way!
Can you imagine what I will get to hear from my wife? 😉

Next to that: In the Netherlands we have a regular "APK" check. That takes about 20 minutes. I simply wait in the garage, but it means my unit can still be unlocked as it can connect up to 10-15 meters.

surfer63 You'd be free to disable the lockscreen, but others need it. Nobody else drives my car.

Just like a phone, you can disable the lockscreen if you want.

That is not the point. I made a feature request for a lock screen and delivered some basic code for it from my Github, already months ago.
I want that lockscreen (valet mode) too.
It is about the the fact that @badwhip requests the radio to be locked unless it connects to a known BT. That wouldn't work as it only connects to the phone that last connected. That is not what I want and what no other user wants when multiple users = multiple phones, use the same car.
This has already been discussed intensively on Telegram.

Those options aren't mutually exclusive. That could also be an option. We're all on the same team here.

Personally I would like it to auto-unlock if my phone is nearby.

You could have both PIN code or pattern, and bluetooth unlocking.

Then your wife wouldn't leave you for another man with an unlocked car stereo.

I don't use Telegram.
