Dudu7: Microphone settings?

I've just installed a Dudu7 (replaced a FYT7862) in my VW T6 Caravelle (2019) and am generally happy.
The only issue is that I'd like to use the OEM microphone of the car with the power injector described here: https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/460368-using-vag-oem-mic-with-aftermarket-head-unit/#comment-5670006

This has worked perfectly well on my FYT7862. In DUDU7 I'm heard well but the caller hears the echo of its own voice, which is annoying. I think the mic is too sensitive/loud and picks up callers voice through the speaker. Would like to reduce the mic level but haven't found a setting - is there a config.txt like in FYT7862 where I can reduce mic gain? Or have I missed the setting in the menus?

gismo Are you using an internal or external microphone? The dudu7 uses a better digital microphone chip, which in theory has a better microphone quality. If you are using an internal microphone, try using an external microphone. If you are using an external microphone, try using an internal microphone.

Hi, I'm using the external mic - the car (VW) came with it and it's much better than the external mics supplied with aftermarket radios. DUDU7 supplied an external mic which I know already - it's inferior to the VW OEM one.

Where in the settings can I select internal/external mic?

It's not necessary. As soon as you connect an external microphone, the unit/android will detect it automatically and switch to the external and disable the internal.

Ok so I'm on the external, as assumed. It's too loud so produces echo. I haven't found an option to reduce gain in menus and guess the old way via config.txt doesn't work anymore. Will play with the voltage supplied to the microphone then...

I am on a Skoda Octavia 2015. I guess the microphone hardware is more or less the same as for your VW even though yours is newer. But it was so much work to connect the original that I simply used the provided external. And it works very well for me on a dudu7.
And that provided one comes without without power on it. It is just a very, simple mic but sounds excellent.
They use heavy noise cancellation which makes it sound a bit "metallic", but everything is crystal clear. Also at a 130 km/h.

Yes I know the external provided, as mentioned above. I'd really like to continue using the OEM one.

PS: Clarity at 130km/h is not the issue either. It's the other side hearing echo when they speak.

SOLVED: The VW OEM mic now works brilliantly also on DUDU7! Issue was a tiny bit too much voltage. The mic needs 5V and for my previous unit (FYT7862) it was good enough to just get 5V from USB (passive hub). DUDU7 seems to provide a tiny bit more voltage via USB (5.1V or so) and that caused too much gain on the mic thus echo and slight oversteer. Possibly the mic input of DUDU7 is also more sensitive.
My solution to this: I now provide slightly lower voltage to the mic (4.6V). 4.5V seems to be the minimum to get it going and at 4.6V the other side gets no echo (or rather I need to pump up the speaker volume to 30 to cause a slight echo) and I'm heard very clearly at all speeds and also when on bumpy roads, crossing railways, etc.
DUDU7 noise cancellation still works. It mutes ongoing noise such as even engine / wind / etc. noise. Can be tested easily by making an even hum noise, it gets much quieter pretty quickly.

gismo If the original car microphone has many problems and the effect is not ideal, try not to use it. The built-in microphone blade is very useful.

I also use Dudu7 in Honda Civic 2017 X gen
with an external microphone (with the one supplied with the radio), the caller hears me better, but as the guy above wrote, the caller hears his own reverberation, this happens both on the internal and external microphone, any idea how to solve it?

I haven't tested with the supplied mic. But if that causes reverb/echo as well then the systems mic gain is too high. In that case DUDUOS should make the mic gain setting accessible/configurable. I haven't found such a setting in DUDU7 (FYT 7862 could do this via config.txt at least).

Until such setting is available, a workaround would be to reduce the speaker volume for calls so that the mic picks up less caller voice through the speaker.

gismo for what it's worth, on Dudu6 mic gain setting is available based on the old-school config.txt adjustments you refer to. For Dudu7 I have read somewhere that that would not be necessary due to its superior mic quality by using the internal one for noise cancellation whilst using the external one to pick up your voice. So much about the theory, unfortunately still have the callers hear their echoes.

Ok thx! I solved it through the mic supply voltage change but good to know for others. Will also look at config.txt and how to flash changes at some point - is guidance available? Haven't seen it being covered in the wiki.

Edit: Have looked at the image and seen config.txt as well as lsec6318update so assume it's like in the "old" days - just these two files on a USB stick will flash a modified config.txt. So the question is now limited to the correct name of the setting. Is it still persist.audio.mic.senstivity and is it otiginally set to 1? My config.txt is pretty empty, just contains
