It ist not just ELM327.

It has to be named OBD2 or OBDII. Or else you can not pair it.

You can try with your phone how the OBD dongle is named because you can pair everything with a phone, even nameless devices.

Hi guys,

I may have a solution for your problem. First, you have to tell what device you have. My solution was tested for 7862.

  1. Check with explorer /fem/app/ config.txt what value has in line sys.fyt.bluetooth. If you have it set to 0, then proceed to next step
  2. Get script for modifying bluetooth mod, is somewherw in the forum
  3. Modify lsec7862.sh and write value of 1 at the end of the line beginning with “sed -e ….
  4. Put everything along with config.txt on a clean pendrive and flash it.
I had same problem, my blootooth device list was empty despite selecting elm327 category.

Hope this helps,
Cheers

Can you find OBD devices in your phone's Bluetooth device list?
Setup>System>Bluetooth, can OBD devices be found here?

Well, if the OBD dongle has to be named OBDII, wouldn't be better to just remove this name filter from the device selection dialog? This will enable us to at least try some other and better dongles than those most and worst generic ones...

Yes, this a recurring issue, ELM OBD is not recognized and the headunit will not connect to it.
I'll be happy to share any screenshot or video of the same.

@YAOXILONG Will you be able to provide some kind of fix for this naming convention required for OBD dongles?

Subject: Urgent Request for Software Update to Resolve Bluetooth Connection Issues with OBD2 Adapter and DUDU7 Android Headunit

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to request urgent assistance with an issue regarding the OBD2 adapter, which fails to connect via Bluetooth to my DUDU7 Android Headunit. Despite multiple attempts and the use of various software solutions, a successful connection could not be established. I would like to detail the problem based on the information and discussions I have found on the DUDUAUTO forum.

Problem Description:

Compatibility Issues: Several users on the forum report difficulties with the compatibility of the OBD2 adapter and the DUDU7 head unit. Specifically, the ELM327 BT OBD adapter does not seem to communicate properly with the vehicle's ECU, leading to connection issues.

Bluetooth Connection Problems: Some users are experiencing difficulties connecting the adapter via Bluetooth. This could be due to software or hardware incompatibilities. Despite various attempts and applying recommended solutions from the forum, such as resetting Bluetooth settings and using different apps, the issue remains unresolved.

Required Software Update: Given the widespread Bluetooth connection problems and numerous reports on the forum, it appears that a software update is necessary to ensure compatibility and connection stability. Such an update could significantly improve the interoperability between the OBD2 adapter and the DUDU7 head unit.

Requested Assistance:

Therefore, I kindly request that you develop and provide an appropriate software update to address these Bluetooth connection issues. It would be extremely helpful if you could offer specific instructions or alternative solutions to ensure Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, I would appreciate any recommendations for possible software updates or hardware enhancements that could improve compatibility.

Thank you in advance for your attention and efforts to resolve this issue promptly. I am available for any further questions and look forward to your prompt response.

Kind regards,

@koba
What is urgent about this?
Can't you drive?
Does your car no longer function?
Can't you use the unit?

Or is it only that you can't use the OBD dongle?
Please don't push this much.

Edit: And yes. This is a very long running issue. I have 3 OBD dongles and none of them work and on my previous FYT 7862 all 3 worked. If you purchase the dudu dongle it will work.
If you buy a BMW or other brand only certified components will work. Here it is the same for the time being.
I don't like that either, but that is how it is.

surfer63 get off your high horse dude.

I removed the IT reference (not necessary indeed), but still the entire post about requesting urgent assistance, etcetera, falls more under the " high horse" in my book.
To me the complete experience is much more important than the small part of OBD. And if OBD is really so important, there are a number of OBD devices that do work. Just like DuDu, and before that Mekede and the other resellers, also offered accessories that were guaranteed to work. Other devices were only supported to minor extend.
Dudu tries to widen this, but actually this is a FYT issue already since 2015 when FYT programmatically blocked normal Bluetooth behavior and programmatically blocked everything apart from phones and specific OBD devices. Since then all kind of workarounds were used and only Atoto worked out a real dual BT-chip behavior.
I hope Dudu can convince FYT to restore normal Android Bluetooth behavior, but until then it is like it is (and still not changed on my 6th generation FYT)

I just install latest duduos on my UIS8581A system. I am seeing my ELM327 dongle does pair from bluetooth settings but I can't see it in the ODB settings. The device selection popup is empty.

I can confirm the device is paired as Torque app was able to communicate with it.

The same problem for me with ELM327 cannot be seen from the DUDU7 with latest OS beta3 version , is working ok with external app
