Speed Limit warning (Red Screen warning)

Hi. I would like to know for the feature in the attached image to work does it need Canbus support.
When I go into more features-----> Reminders-----> I get this option , but it doesn't work I don't get the "red screen warning". My first question is does this need Canbus support to work ? Well if it doesn't then how would it work ,has anyone tried it and has it worked successfully. Thanks in advance

Mikescotland Not fair...I understand it's a brilliant feature. I use an app called RealDash (premium version) I use it with my OBD 2 scanner to read the various vehicle parameters. The app has a voice feature which detects road speeds and alerts..I have tested them out on my Srilankan Roads and they have got it right all the time. The bonus is that the REALDASH app also detect cameras. Thanks

Ok. It is for the Chinese market, but how does this actually work?
Do you simply set for yourself a speed limit, like 100 kmh (or 70 mph) and it warns you?
It doesn't know about roads, where you are and speed limits. So you have parts were you are allowed to drive 30 kmh, 50 kmh, 70 kmh, 80 kmh, 100 kmh and 120 or 130 kmh (Netherlands).

So it only reacts on one set speed? Or is there something more clever behind it like using the standard Chinese navigation (and therefore only Chinese market)?

I liked your post because of what you tried. But I don't like the answer from Dudu.

And do you know how FCC Launcher does this globally? Is it using some Open Source API to OpenStreetMap data or so? And does it need OSM offline maps to do so?

surfer63 it does use open street, worked for me in any country I've been through, UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland. Has also a cache so it doesn't suck the data all the time. Has a widget that shows current speed limit as a road sign and the widget for street name you're on.
Fcc launcher should be a benchmark for Dudu. Sadly, falling on deaf ears.
It doesn't need osm maps. It's just using GPS location and API.
Not to mention that music player widget in fcc is far superior, remembers players, user doesn't need to swap apps etc. Eh...

I did some googling and I found that I can use the overpass-api.de. I guess this is the same method FCC launcher uses, but that's closed source, so it stays a guess.
I haven't programmed for more than a year (apart from python). Today I wrote a first version of a SpeedAlert apk doing exactly what is necessary (I think).
The app uses the builtin GPS to get exact location and speed, using a kalman filter the smoouthen peaks/drops, and then uses the Overpass Api to get speed limits from the OpenStreetMap database for the relevant part of the road you are driving on. It should display an overlay showing the current speed.
I will first test in the coming days. Hopefully tomorrow.

surfer63 nice! Waiting to test it. Problem with Dudu is you need to revert to overlay because there is no way a widget can be made for this closed system... 😒 Pay attention to adjacent streets (junctions), sometimes in Fcc they were briefly popping in.

It is in its extremely early stages. I need to use the MediaPlayer anyway to play the current "beep-beep-beep" mp3, or whatever the user selects. When also using the MediaplayerSession I could simply populate the generic music widget with App name (as album), current speed (as title), allowed speed (as author) and the sound as music.
But that is far, far away right now. First do the first test tomorrow.

surfer63 that would a no no if it can't be switched off, I listen to the music all the time and that would be annoying, let alone music widget won't come back to playing what was playing before (knowing dudu). I'd say just overlay with speed sign would be just enough!

I already built it. That was the easy part. And my personal point of view is that every option should be switchable.

Here in light (day) mode but it follows Androids day/night mode settings.

Forget above screen. It is completely cluttered. Functionality stays the same, but I've changed to card view.
I will drive this afternoon and test it.

This speeding alert feature relies on data provided through integration with the AutoNavi Maps SDK and Tencent Maps SDK.
It will only function in countries and regions supported by these two mapping services. Many other maps do not offer such interfaces for data provision.

Yes, I know. That is why I try to use the overpass api which request the data from OpenStreetMap. That will function world-wide.
I want to make it as simple as possible and hope that if it works correctly, it can be implemented in Dudu. An integrated solution inside Dudu is always better.

Currently the overlay does not function at all. It makes the app crash.
Android 13 is already picky about overlays and it has changed since Android 12 (alert_window to RRO, which I found out Yesterday), but did you as Dudu (or FYT) block overlays?
I also tried the "display-media-titles from Vasyl whichs uses also overlays and works fine on Android 10, also with Dudu6. But that app doesn't work either on DuDu7.
Did you as Dudu or did FYT block overlays on Android 13? Or did you "break" the ROM to force a certain mechanism?

surfer63 I'm testing Overlays app from Google play (I used it when on tablet) and it does not have any problems with 3.7b3, displays overlays every time. You may take a look at this app and what permissions it asks when setting up.
I also use display media titles and it works on my Dudu7 (sometimes crashes when Dudu is back from sleep though).

It is closed source, so it doesn't help me at all. debugging the smali code takes way too much time

That is strange. I can't use it as the overlay button stays red indicating it can't get the overlay permission. As that app is open source I already checked the code. It uses the old alert_window logic/code which officially is no longer supported on Android 12+.
That is also why I askede @DUDU-Meng if FYT had (again and again) broken the normal Android functionality, which they also did for split screen and Bluetooth.

Thank you for your suggestion. We will explore the OpenStreetMap API, though it likely only provides route information and does not include specific speed limit values for individual road segments. We will attempt to integrate it when time permits.

Edit: Which 1.1.1 apk did you install? There is quite a number of selectable apks now.

After installing it will restrict reading notifications. So, Android settings-all apps then display media title, three dots and "allow restricted settings".
