Hi everyone,
I have a Mekede DUDU7 head unit and I’ve been running into some frustrating connectivity problems recently. I’m hoping someone here has seen this before or can point me in the right direction.
What used to work:
- I used my iPhone as a hotspot so the DUDU7 could connect to the internet.
- I connected via Bluetooth for wireless Apple CarPlay, which worked fine.
- I recently added a USB volume knob, and everything continued working normally for a while.
What’s going wrong now:
- The DUDU7 has suddenly started having trouble connecting to my iPhone’s hotspot.
- Wireless CarPlay over Bluetooth also fails or disconnects frequently.
- In the wireless settings on the DUDU7, there is a “Hotspot” option (the one that makes the DUDU7 act as the hotspot). I do not want this on.
- When I try to toggle it off, it immediately turns itself back on again, as if something is forcing it.
- The setting “Enable hotspot automatically” is OFF, so I can’t understand why it keeps reactivating.
What I’ve tried:
- Toggling hotspot on/off multiple times → keeps turning back on.
- iPhone side seems normal, no visible Shortcut/automation set (at least not intentionally).
- No new major changes except plugging in the USB volume knob (but it worked fine for a time before this problem started).
My questions:
- Why would the DUDU7’s hotspot mode refuse to stay off? Is there a system service or known bug that forces it back on?
- Could the USB volume knob be triggering some internal change (power, USB routing, etc.)?
- Has anyone experienced this exact issue with hotspot auto-enabling on DUDU7?
- Is there a firmware update or hidden setting that controls this behavior?
- Any suggestions for fully resetting Wi-Fi/Bluetooth logic without factory resetting everything?
System details (if helpful):
- Model: DUDU7 for BMW E53
- iPhone for tethering + wireless CarPlay

Any help, tips, or known fixes would be hugely appreciated! I’m trying to restore the original workflow: iPhone hotspot → DUDU7 internet & wireless CarPlay.
Thanks in advance! 🙏
