Help Setting up Fascia with Built-in Buttons and Knobs

Hey all! Just installed my Dudu7 and am loving the snappiness and sound quality compared to a cheap off-brand unit I’ve installed in the past. I’ve searched all throughout the forum and the web and cannot find anything regarding the setup of this fascia/ frame kit with built-in knobs and buttons. Bear with me, as I am not the most tech savvy person, and a lot of technical jargon will be tough for me to understand. The vehicle is a 2014 Kia Forte if that makes any difference.

I’ve uploaded some pictures showing what the fascia looks like, what the connector on the fascia looks like, the fascia hooked up with the buttons back-lights on, and a diagram that I found from a no-name-brand unit that uses the same fascia which is exactly how I have it wired.

My fascia has a built in volume knob, tuner knob, and six physical buttons (home key, back key, navigation, etc). There is a 4-pin connector on the back of the fascia which I am pretty sure connects to all the buttons and knobs. I found a picture from an eBay listing of a cheaper head unit that uses the same fascia, and I wired my harness to the fascia the same way I see it in that picture. I know I have power going to my buttons because they are backlit and they come on when my car’s headlights are on.

I was able to set up my car’s steering wheel controls no problem at all. When I am in the SWC menu, the buttons on my fascia kit are not giving input signals into the SWC menu. I have also tried using the MCU panel without any luck.

Is there some kind of “physical button learning” menu that I’m just not seeing? Or does this sound like a wiring problem?

Did you connect these 2 plugs?
The panel button is CANBUS communication, you need to consult the seller to choose which CANBUS model

dudu-lai yes, I have those 2 plugs connected.
Dudu sold me this panel button, so I am not sure who they outsourced it from.
Are you saying that I need to purchase a canbus module?
Or are you saying there is a canbus that is already built into this panel button?

Donkary The panel buttons have built-in CANBUS and use CANBUS communication, so you need to consult the seller.

dudu-lai you guys sold me the fascia/ button panel, so I have no clue who to reach out to in order to ask them what canbus model it is.

Did you use the metal gasket? I can't figure how this sits securely.

ZeRAuJ_Official yes, I did use the metal plate. There was no hardware included, so I purchased some 2.5mm screws from the hardware store to attach it. I can post some pictures tomorrow.

Here is where I was able to fit four 2.5mm screws to attach the metal plate. I will say, even though the plate is completely screwed down as tight as it will go, the tolerance is still off and the screen has a little bit of slop still. I’m not entirely impressed with the fitment of the fascia, but I still prefer it over the styles that do not have buttons.

Give a try in settings to display canbus information on screen.

With this method i checked that canbus information was received normally by the unit. Every click on physical button or screen button was returned in the canbus "message" on screen.
So my only problem was to find the right canbus box setting.

If no information was displayed, perhaps your physical canbus connection between unit and frame have a problem.

What exact size did you get? I have some provided screws but neither one secures the bracket onto the radio. It's real loose. I tried to carefully place it into place but it wouldn't sit correctly.

Just to update anyone that may have issues with these fascias that have built-in tuners and buttons, the problem has been solved! Thank you @dudu-lai for the help. It turns out the fascia does in fact have a built-in canbus. I had my doubts since it doesn’t have anything that resembles a typical “canbus decoder” that you’d plug into your main wiring harness. The fascia did in fact have a built-in canbus. So no need to start snipping wires and trying to connect it to the steering control wires like I tried to do lol. It all comes down to finding the right canbus configuration model. Mine happened to be the one that is in the attached picture.

This would've been my next concern as I also don't have a canbus module nor did the box come with specific instructions on which canbus settings to select like it did for my 15' Genesis Coupe/Rohens Coupe.
