agaxiola89 I don't know how Qobuz works with Usb Audio. If it uses direct usb dac mode it would be preferred. If not UAPP can do it (it can play Qobuz from your account).
That would be the best quality (bit perfect) but you'd need to have usb card in the dsp.
If not, spdif passthrough.
I'm using tidal and since it can't resample, I'm using UAPP that resamples tidal (same, logs in to your account at tidal) to 48 kHz and then passes to android.

Thanks, Actually I'm using Qobuz with spdif passthrough. I don't have a USB DAC and I wan't buy it jajaja, I spent a lot of money in my audio system and I hope the developers of DUDU @DUDU-HUANG can help us with this issues reported.

Sean just checked. Till 7 September I'm still within return period. Happy days.
After contradicting @DUDU-HUANG answers by @DUDU-Meng in another topic (especially that navi bar is optimal now, ignoring all users' complaints) I don't have any hope for any changes.
Today I almost hit someone trying to press a tiny icon on navi that are twice smaller than my finger.

Thanks for your reply - a bit embarrassed that I missed that this was made by Redpower themselves. Yes, noted that they made no reference to passing of system/navigation/phone calls via digital. Tempted to take a punt given pricing at the moment but it's certainly not the way we should have to do things.

Thanks again Mike. This is a really good suggestion. I'm going to have a look at the Roon ARC settings but they look a little devoid of functionality in comparison to the Carplay version. Will dig around next time I'm in the vehicle.

Thanks @DUDU-HUANG . I appreciate the honesty but this simply reinforces my views this DuduAuto have patently false claims in their advertising. You clearly call this an audiophile player in all the available literature. Now you admit that you lag behind decent digital players. I'm happy that you have been so forthcoming in stating this but it leaves a bad taste with customers who care about this aspect of the unit. It also makes me very wary about any claims that the company makes in the future about new products etc and is reputation harming.

agaxiola89 I'm sure they will work on this. Creating their own USB driver, or audio stack to bypass android mixer and internal DSP as well.

They may work on it but, as stated by DuduAuto in Post #55 above, the issues described pertaining to audio quality are hardware related -to be more specific in how audio is physically routed to the Android Chip and AKM chip. It is essentially a poorly thought out design that can't be fixed in it's current form and will require a hardware redesign.

Yes, this is all very disappointing. It's too late for me to return it, but I may have to go back to my previous head unit. The Dudu7 has great potential, but has proven to be buggy, not living up to advertised specs.

Mike, I tried this and found the bit rate selector. To be honest, I wasn't anticipating a big change but setting the Roon player to a fixed 48kHz output regardless of source bit rate made an immediate difference. Hey, it's still behind my old Alpine player but the sibilance and harshness is certainly noticeably improved for the better. Thank you 🙂

Sean I wanted to check roon arc but of course I couldn't log in.
Harshness still will be there a bit, because I suspect roon uses one of the resample algorithms optimised for speed and energy efficiency. Still I believe much better than basic Android resampler.
As of Dudu, I suspect the AKM DSP is added after all Android processing, so one input, one output, instead of being a heart of every input and outputs (as per data sheet). That's why it's impossible to do what they claimed in the marketing gibberish. Poor design choice, but the cheapest one, take a standard complete FYT board and just add a DSP before amps.

Sean no, this time i deleted the post because it looks I was wrong, so apologies. I was too lazy / busy to rewrite it. Key was to restart Dudu, which brought behaviour as expected, albeit of course with no navi and phone.

Understand that setting Roon to 48kHz doesn't alter the audio path so it's still not an ideal solution. It really did show at least in a crude way that the simple act of resampling (by Android) does affect the sound in a negative way even if audio is routed through this chip. I'd love to have the ability to have audio pass around this BS processing. Prior to purchasing, when I noted that AKM Velvet audio chips were being used along with claims of audiophile processing and output, I bought it. Stupidly so, it would appear. Frustated AF but we're all in the same boat.

My return has been approved but just f$@king not keen on pulling everything out and having no audio until I pick a new direction...

Sean akm velvet are outstanding, provided they do all processing, BT, microphone, radio to their inputs etc. They can change sampling rates on the fly, bypass some or all dsp and hit SNR of 120dB.
But again, if they are processing it all.
Here they are just thrown at the end of the audio path receiving whatever already resampled / processed crap is being passed from Android FYT. Still SNR good (all is in digital domain) but resampling artefacts and inability to change anything is evident.

Did you decide to return your unit? I’m curious as I’ll be removing mine in the next few days and sending back. Still not much out there on the Red Power 850 Crystal but from the videos I’ve seen it appears that the functionality and layout is so much better than the Dudu. No small BS buttons and can move GPS display. Trying to decide whether to give this a try or to simply go to the Alpine F509 and use the HDMI output with an optical audio extractor.

Sean I haven't returned due to two things: 1. Cracking the canbox Toyota RAV protocol (almost done), 2. YT video "what's wrong with DUDU" which will be done next month probably- all ignored bugs, inconvenient and Dudu's stance "we know better". Fine, unit will go to resale after, so be it.
Regarding RedPower - I have asked them about sampling rates and navi / BT mix - waiting for the answer.
Yes, UI for both, RP and Teyes seems to be better for a car - I can give up double PIP and have only one if I am able actually to operate the unit in a driven car.
Did you confirm with Alpine if phone works over HDMI out when sampling is i.e. 44.1 or 96k?

Yes I'm torn and have been asking some Q's of the Aliexpress supplier of the RedPower units. Still awaiting some better info and will post here if I learn something useful.

So, from what I've been told, the Alpine can output phone call audio via HDMI only if phone calls connect to the unit via bluetooth. It can output navigation commands via HDMI when connected via either USB or bluetooth. How seamlessly this works in practice is unknown as it's rare to do the things the way I'd like to. I'd prefer to connect to Carplay via USB which means that I'd need the unit to pick up phone calls via bluetooth -who knows if this will work or not.

If all else fails I could go back to RCA but prefer optical for many reasons...
