  • 20250519 3.6 PIP bug

There seems to ba a bug in the PIP window in 3.6 20250519

I use iGO for navigation in PIP app1(have tried moving app to all 3 PIP windows too) and it keeps coming up as iGO not responding. The thing is though it is responding and still running, as it is still giving speed camera warnings in the background. I have taken a screen recording here [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k4YX-CJBsQ8hHDOZ96WzYDerJEoWOm_r/view?usp=sharing] I did want to upload the video to here but filesize is too big.
The screen recording shows the issue in real time and how it has to be restarted, on the occasion of recording after 1 app restart it was ok but sometimes it is constant after many restarts. I read in the OS 3.6 official release thread someone has had the same issue with waze.
I have tried clearing app cache in settings that didn't help, I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Other apps do not do this but I have used this igo build for many years on many units without issue(iGO is slightly different as you need to assemble a base folder structure for maps and content and place folder on internal storage then install the apk). I have used this app on 3.5 and all the 3.6 betas without any problem, its only this release 3.6 where there has been problems. Also if i run the app on its own, in full screen, not in the PIP window this issue does not happen.
Please investigate as its very important to have this running in PIP from the launcher screen

Can you tell me if the first time I boot up the computer and start igo in pip I get an error and after clicking close and reloading igo works fine?
Unplug all usb storage devices and try again!

DUDU-Meng Its random, sometimes it happens just once and upon pip restart it is fine, sometimes it just keeps happening, then sometimes it starts up first time with no issues. I have tried with all USB removed and didn't help.
Sometimes it helps to allow igo to fully start in PIP before playing any music or radio but even then it still does happen randomly. The strangest thing is that even though it says "not responding" it is running fine but if I press wait the dialog box just comes right back up.
I have also tried all 4 PIP DPI settings but no difference

Video seen You are using the PIP function in standard mode.
Can you test it using the navigation PIP in minimalist mode?

DUDU-Meng I will test that today but for the moment I have switched the dpi settings to high and it has improved things, though it has not completely cured it.
I will test minimalist mode today but I much prefer standard mode as having my desktop as it appears in the video is exactly how I want it. Poweramp at the right side and then at the left I can swap between igo, Adas camera and Dab

It could be that iGO has a requirement for display resolution.
When you set the DPI, you can also adjust the desktop scaling so that the PIP gets a larger display area on the screen.

DUDU-Meng How do i do that please

        9 days later

DUDU-Meng I figured out how to do it and it hasn't made a difference. Unless I boot to wallpaper and manually start PIP it will say not responding(even though it is responding) everytime. If I start PIP before anything else then 50% of the time it works. In 3.5 or any of the 3.6 betas this never happened it worked perfectly every time. Can you please address this in next update

It is assumed that iGO is opened when there is no internet connection, iGO will error out when it is opened and there is no internet, you can delay and wait for the internet to come up and then try running iGO in the PIP. If that's the problem, you should go to the iGO developers and suggest that they fix the problem.

          20 days later

Just wanted to update on this.
Igo build tested on 3 different head units with PIP windows (2 not dudu units, 1 is dudu7 with 3.5 OS). The build works perfectly on all 3. I use 4g sim card on mine so internet always active, however internet is not required for igo as it has offline maps installed and the programs online services are not essential to run. However I have found if I start up pip with igo manually before I run anything else on the unit it works, but if I set it to start automatic it does not. I have been to igo developers and they agree it is a software bug in duduos.
So, yesterday there was a problem with their online server so traffic reports were not working, I also have sygic navigation and waze installed on my dudu7 as backups as when I am travelling I do rely on traffic updates. I tried both sygic and waze in PIP and both of them did the exact same thing as Igo so it must be a bug in the PIP window.
I say again, all 3 of these navigation programs worked in PIP in os 3.5 and all 3.6 betas, it is only in the 3.6 release that it doesn't. I have had all 3 programs installed in my dudu unit since it was first installed in April. It was running OS 3.5 when installed and I fully tested all 3 programs because I travel to many addresses so navigation is vital to me, all 3 worked perfectly in both full screen and in PIP. I updated to every 3.6 beta as they were released and they still worked, now on 3.6 release 250519 these problems have started. It surely must be a bug in the PIP.
If this cannot be fixed can you provide me with a step by step guide to downgrade back to OS 3.5

robdx2 We cannot solve this problem because we have tested different Android phones and found that when I open IGO without a network, it cannot function properly. IGO requires a network during its first run. This is how we test on different Android devices here.
Even if it runs in full screen directly after booting up, it cannot function properly as long as there is no network IGO.

I don't know if this would help but can you create a task to open IGO PiP automatically with 15 second delay.... I dont have sim so not sure how long it takes to obtain network activation

DUDU-Meng But thats what i'm saying..I have network, I have a 4g sim card, its active as soon as the unit boots up, its 100% online when igo boots. However I know more about igo than dudu and my previous unit a topway with PIP had no sim card so no network until wifi turned on and igo always booted up fine.
I use Igo nextgen primo palestine and it differs from most navigation programs as you don't simply install an app and download offline maps or use maps online. For a fully functional igo nextgen you must build a folder called iGO_Pal, this contains all UI files, a data.zip, and a sys.txt this folder also must have a content subfolder to contain maps, poi files, language and voice, you then place your igo apk file in the main iGO_Pal folder. This igo folder must then be placed on the dudu7 or phones internal storage, not an sd card and not in Android - Data as most do. Once the folder is copied to internal storage you then install the igo apk from within the igo folder. Open the app from the app list, as far as I know it only needs network during this initial setup as it saves all setup data to its save folder and writes to sys.txt so once this is done it does not need network to run and function, only for online services such as traffic, its designed to be fully functional for navigation offline if needed.
              iGO_Pal folder structure

Content subfolder for maps, voices, poi, 3d buildings, 3d terrain(dem) etc

Copy folder to android unit/phone internal storage

Now install apk from inside iGO_Pal folder on unit/phone main storage, once installed tap done, not open and open from apps screen

              Video of install here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Y8H4eDWDSE2CujJLFlHxn6twg4aG1sMi/view?usp=sharing

Please note my post above where I state that sygic and waze are now doing the same thing, and please accept the absolute cold hard fact that this error did not occur in OS 3.5 or any of the 3.6 betas. I accept that you know your dudu7 OS please accept the fact I know 100% my igo build works. This exact same build and apk has been copied onto my android 14 phone and works, copied onto my android 9 tablet and works, copied onto an android 10 TS18 Eonon head unit and works in PIP with no network.
Friends I do not wish to argumentative or awkward but this error is most definitely a bug in the duduOS that was not present in OS 3.5 or 3.6 betas, I am even more convinced now because 2 more navigation programs are giving the same error in PIP, DUDU is a new software, its a great great software but it has bugs, but thats to be expected, but I am respectfully asking you to look into the PIP part of the software

robdx2 my bad for trying to help without fully understanding your situation. I dont have same problem with my waze pip starting up in 3.6, just as fyi. I'll shut up and leave it to meng to try and better diagnose your issue.

picasso1850 Not at all friend, I thank you for your help always and I appreciate it

Can you record a video showing the problem from startup to IGO?
I feel like IGO starts up as quickly as possible after the system boots up, following PIP. You have placed a lot of offline resources, which may be causing incomplete reading. You can set the first page to be the wallpaper, then wait a few seconds before switching to the PIP interface, allowing IGO to start up a few seconds later. See if it runs perfectly then.

DUDU-Meng This is the exact procedure I do to be honest. I have the unit set to always switch off, no sleep as I have had battery drains in the past, so from starting the car the unit fully boots to wallpaper screen. I have all 3 PIP icons on bottom navbar so once fully booted to wallpaper i press PIP1 to boot up igo and poweramp as dual PIP (Normal mode).
about 70% of the time it works, obviously I would like 100%.
Anyway a new problem has appeared this morning, this time with poweramp for music. I listen to audiobooks mostly, so tracks of over 3 hours which I don't get through in 1 trip. Poweramp should according to settings remember the track position on restart, but now for some reason it has started resetting each track to the beggining.
So my next test will be to reinstall 3.6 from USB to see if that makes a difference, if not I will try rollback to 3.5 but I am not sure how to do that to make sure after rollback the launcher will work

You can set the first page after startup to wallpaper mode or other non-PIP interfaces, then set the automatic task to delay 15 seconds after the vehicle ignition to switch the home page plugin, and then select the plugin you want to switch to, such as navigation or PIP123, etc.
