  • Unable to use bluetooth. Dudu media playback crashing on phone bluetooth connect

I have an issue that I feel sure is something to do with bluetooth music/BT music app/APTX or HD audio settings when my phone (Pixel 9 Pro XL) connects via bluetooth (BT from here on).

I can play any media app on my Dudu7 (6/64 running 3.6 beta 4) absolutely fine, locally, FM radio, Tidal, Spotify etc no problems at all. But the moment my phone connects via BT the music cuts out either completely or intermittently and the phone continuously cycles through attempts to auto connect via BT. If I disconnect or forget the BT connection on either Dudu or phone, the original source music on Dudu plays fine again.

I have tried many, many options such as disabling HD audio on phone under dudu BT connection settings, disabling BT music under dudu BT connection settings, trying various combos of phone AVRCP (1.3, 1.4, 1.5 [default] and 1.6) and MAP (1.2 [default], 1.3 and 1.4), disabling Bluetooth LE audio hardware offload and same for A2DP hardwware offload. Tried various combos of either Dudu initiating BT connection to phone, other pin number passwords for connection from Dudu, initiating BT connection from phone to Dudu 1st, wiping BT settings etc with reboots inbetween. Have also tried flashing sys.fyt.bluetooth_type=7 after default type=0 didn't work using DUDUOS_CFGMOD_v1.00.7z.

Also on occasion after connecting via BT as the connection loops from disconnect to connect I get a persistent unknown call pop up on Dudu (but no actual call on phone). Clicking end call only reconnects instantly and that goes into a loop too.

There's not any way (with root) that I can see to uninstall either the built in Dudu music app or BT music app as they are system apps. But I feel it has something to do with these. If I connect successfully via BT I can stream Tidal music etc from phone to Dudu and it plays fine. But as soon as I change to Dudu apps (tidal, spotify, FM radio, DAB etc) the music cuts out again.

Have also tried factory resetting either through Dudu options or Dudu's android settings to erase data and start fresh. Still the problem persists.

PLEASE please look into this as I cannot connect my phone to Dudu via BT at all. Obviously this is a fundamental requirement to allow phone calls etc to Dudu head unit. Please see attached photo of specs and BT blinklog for further info and let me know if there is anything more you would me to try.

Many thanks indeed. (Other than that, and UK numbers beginning 07 not showing as contacts - only +44 numbers show as contacts, I am absolutely delighted with the Dudu!!)

reg66 changed the title to Unable to use bluetooth. Dudu media playback crashing on phone bluetooth connect .

UPDATE: While trying various things/connection options etc it seems it is temporarily working (BT connected consistently and with music playable from Dudu, calls tested and working fine). I can reboot Dudu head unit and I think I had brief initial connection issues again, but after forgetting connection on only phone and rebooting, waiting for Dudu connection request prompt and then pairing via phone prompt it connected fine (after very quickly deselecting Media Audio to connect option on phone, under DUDUAUTO BT settings).

A number of days ago, I did manage to get a consistent connection several times, but as soon as I reboot my phone the same issues mentioned in OP above happen again. So I am very reluctant to try a phone reboot to see if all works OK-ish.

For further info, please see attached log which was captured after successful BT connection established and music playing... Before I rebooted Dudu to get log.

Many thanks for your attention on this

Can you tell me if the 07 number doesn't show contacts , is it not found in the contacts?
If so, can you provide us with a few sets of the same numbers and names so that we can test them?

Bluetooth constantly reconnect problem, you enter the system upgrade APP, more upgrade There is a Bluetooth firmware upgrade.
Upgrade the latest Bluetooth firmware and test the problem again.

      DUDU-Meng

The named contacts show in contacts list, but recents only show numbers beginning 07. +44 numbers show the name.

      It's any number beginning 07 eg. 07848 817614

      Many thanks

      DUDU-Meng

Excellent, many thanks indeed. Will check later when home

Every time it happened before, a phone reboot would be the ultimate test - it always broke the connection again. But after BT FW update, and a phone reboot, everything is still working great!!! Will try a few more reboots of Dudu and phone, but al seems well.

Thanks so much again for the awesome device and software along with support - keep up the good work!!

Glad to have solved your problem.
You can test the issue of displaying numbers starting with 07 by upgrading to the latest Beta5 system

Hello. I have the same problem with Bluetooth. But I don't have any updates for Bluetooth. Why? Where to find updated firmware?

valik4767 DUDU6 is not yet updated online
Please wait for this feature to go live

When is the update expected for Dudu 6? Because I can't use Android Auto at all. Music is always interrupting, and I need to turn off the Bluetooth every time.
Or maybe I can connect to Android Auto directly without Bluetooth somehow?

I have a similar problem with my Samsung S24fe. I can play all media through my Bluetooth and Android auto except phone calls do not route through the car speakers I have tried all options on these forums and I am unable to get my phone to work through my car speakers. This problem does not exist on any other of my Android head units in my other cars only the dudu7 device. Please help.

              DUDU-Meng.
I have installed the updated archive. I go to the System upgrade APP - More upgrade - Bluetooth firmware - Local update - and chosen 'blinkfile.bin'. Everything correct?

But I'm still have the problem. After connecting the device to Android Auto when I listen to Youtube Music it freezes every 3 seconds. I think the problem is with Bluetooth that tries to reconnect every 3 seconds for some reason. Here is what I see on my Google Pixel 7 Pro device.

Everything is fine, your DUDU6 has been upgraded with bluetooth firmware 20250424

Hi, would you have an updated file for dudu4 Bluetooth, I am also having issues with constantly disconnecting

                    RogerF
The DUDU4 has the same Bluetooth as the DUDU5, integrated into the system.
DUDU6/7 are Qualcomm 3031 Bluetooth modules, only 3031 modules can be upgraded separately.

do you know if a update will come to fix the problem with this issue. I have tried everything to get my siriusxm bt radio to work on bluethooth on my dudu4 stereo, it will connect but disconects after about 5 seconds

DUDU-Meng , yes, Bluetooth is updated. But the problem still exists. I wrote the description of the problem in the previous message.
