DuduOS 3.5 Launch Google maps in drive mode.

Hi I'm trying to get Google maps to launch in drive mode (ideally in the pipeline launcher). On a regular android device you are required to create a new shortcut to the driving widget.

If this isn't possible currently. It should be a feature or probably the default.

+1. This is desperately needed. The default Google Maps without driving mode is not very usable when driving. Waze is better, but doesn't work when network connection is bad. Maps should open up in driving mode by default using one of the intents.

I’m not familiar with "the pipeline launcher," but if you’re launching the map from an app rather than an Android widget, you can use Google Maps in driving mode by installing the "Driving Mode Shortcut" app from Google Play and setting it to launch instead of Google Maps.
However, please be aware that depending on your environment, the "Driving Mode Shortcut" app may cause serious issues.

Thanks! This is exactly what I need.

BUT the DUDUOS home screen keeps restarting the "Driving Mode Shortcut" app if it is used as the default navigation app. And it causes Google maps launched using the Driving mode shortcut app to freeze when a navigation destination is entered. The shortcut app works fine when launched manually (by selecting the app icon manually).

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? I am on the latest release build of DUDUOS 3.6. Seems like a bug.

Hi. I will give it a try because I like Google maps and I think it is good choice for pip.

Benlatak good advice. Works and can be selected in PIP. Quickly tested and no issues.

In Q2 of this year, the app “Driving Mode Shortcut” was removed from Google Play. This was not an app I created.
To replace it, I developed a new app called “Drive Mode Launcher.”
Its functionality is almost the same as the previous one.

However, depending on the operating environment, Drive Mode Launcher may also encounter major issues.
In particular, when used with launchers that have problems in their PIP implementation, the Google Maps app may repeatedly restart in full-screen mode, making it impossible to perform other operations. I have been looking for a way to avoid this issue, but so far, I haven’t found one.

I’m not sure whether Dudu Launcher is one of the launchers with PIP implementation problems.
If no such issues have been reported there, it might work properly.

Ok, I understand. I did a test yesterday and the major issue is if maps is open in full by your app, when return to main screen with PiP, Maps is automatically reduced in a little view at bottom right and at the same time PiP is opened. So it is little "flickering", the view at right closing but in PiP Maps want to shutdown so I need to press No.
I hope my explanation is ok. I am french lol.

Do you mean that both the small PIP feature of Android itself and the PIP from the DUDU launcher are displayed at the same time?
In Android’s settings, under “Apps,” is there a section like “Special app access” where you can find options such as Picture-in-Picture or floating windows and turn them off? If so, it should be fine as long as only the DUDU launcher’s PIP works. If the DUDU launcher’s PIP also stops appearing, please revert the settings.
I plan to purchase a DUDU head unit in the near future, but since I don’t have one yet, I cannot give precise instructions on how to handle it.

Not exactly at the same time. Small android PIP is the first to been displayed and at the opening of Dudu PiP, it is automatically closed. But the Dudu PiP is not immediately stable so this "yo-yo" process take several second to been stable and sometimes it finished with a Maps screen not very ok (in Dudu PiP).

I will take a video as soon as possible 😉

Benlatak You must disable the "display over other apps" in the gmaps app settings. Go to Android settings/Apps/Gmaps and you'll find it
