  • Should the harness be plug and play?

Maybe a dumb question, apologies if so.

I got a DUD7 from Mekede for my 2018 Toyota Sienna (non-JBL). They sent me a trim piece, canbus box (RZ-FT01), and wiring harness. The only plug on the wiring harness that works with the connectors in my dash is the FM antenna plug. None of the others match. Are they supposed to and I just got the wrong harness? Or am I supposed to sort out which wires are what and do a bunch of soldering?

Aegwyn11 Make a photo of the back of the OEM unit and send it to your seller. The harness (if it's the correct one) should be like you say Plug & Play. More than sure you seller will send you the correct harness this time.

Cool, thank you. I'll do that.

Aegwyn11 I know it is not nice at all when it happens, but, if it comforts you, it happened to me too 🙂

MihaiFlorin hah good to know 🫠 the upside is I learned how all my dash pieces come apart so once it's all sorted it'll be easy. Plus I figured out that I needed to order adapters to use the factory GPS antenna and USB so ultimately not a total waste of time.

Aegwyn11 the harness you have is typical Toyota harness, works on most cars, Corolla is one of them and it should work on your vehicle as well.

abidali No. This is not right. There are more than one harnesses for Toyota. For example, on my Corolla hybrid this is the one that works. As you can see it has less connectors. The one the OP posted is working in Toyota Yaris 2014 (my brother has one)
The best for Aegwyn11 is to make a picture of the original Toyota unit and to send it to his seller.

It is the same with the new Suzuki Connect system.
I ordered a harness with canbus-box for my Vitara with SLDA system but got a harness for the new Connect system. I ordered in India. No refund.

I ordered from Mekede in China (I'm in the USA). After some discussion, they agreed to send the correct harness free of charge.

I’m afraid I have the same issue. I have Toyota Corolla Touring Sports Premium version that comes with a JBL unit (which appears to be a Panasonic in fact). When ordering I did send the (front) picture of that unit and upon installation yesterday, none of the connectors from the original Toyota cables fit into the supplied can-bus (RZ-FT-01)connectors. And I agree, the time spent was not entirely lost, I did learn quite a lot about dismantling pannels 😀. I have sent a message to the WhatsApp channel of theirs and waiting for a response. My advice for new buyers would actually be to take out a stock unit first, take the pictures of the back of the unit and cables and only then place the order. Will keep you posted.

An update - the replacement harness they sent worked perfectly and I was able to get the unit working.

Separately I ordered an adapter cable so I could use my van's built in GPS antenna and it's working fine as well. https://www.discountcarstereo.com/sumi-fakra.html

Aegwyn11 Do you have pictures of that harness ((or the brand and type number for that matter)? Just to check if I have the same challenge? Am in consultation with Mekede support on this issue and your information might help to get me in the right direction. Thanks in advance :-)

Evollove as suggested earlier in this thread, I took a picture of the back of my OEM head unit and sent it to Mekede. They sorted it out from there.

Aegwyn11 ok thanks. I have done the same.
