  • Nothing about these part numbers on the internet. By the construction though, it appears to be a Simplesoft / XP unit. I wouldn't worry too much about what you read about particular adapters and the issues other people have with them. Canbus can be complicated and is rarely engineered to a standard (electrical standard yes, interfacing with the head unit, no). I would just search for a Mazda unit wherever they sell these and have a conversation with the seller about your needs / concerns.

    • Teklock Not true, it has both high speed, for the modules that are related to driveability (transmission, fuel pump control etc.) and low speed for the less important things like radio. I believe any canbus box for the head unit will most likely work on low speed but then again if they want to see driveability data like the new cars can, it could be both. Only the engineers / sellers of those things will know for sure.

      • Teklock Neat, thanks for that, could be useful. I actually took a look in automotive service data and confirmed the original radio has a full time power only, no ACC, and wakes by canbus (dark green wire across all the modules).

        • Yes it exists, i don't think there is a way to route it to the real speakers. The cheap one is included to retain the chimes otherwise there will be silence. Usually they are external and can be unplugged, but if it's built into canbus box, there is no such option. Strange design.

        • Wass no, the copyrighted apps cannot be used. Carlink is only provided as a courtesy option with limited support.

        • These are pretty old so it won't be any kind of advanced canbus. Like for me, I have a 2010 Silverado 1500 and I use GM-SS-05 that was shipped with the head unit and built into the harness. I have the open door display and chimes (needs external speaker also that was included). It also knows when I go into reverse as the camera lines are shown but i don't have a camera. The screen dims as well when the headlights come on. Nothing else. More models here for GM.

          • Teklock It says it's supposed to but the wire it linked up with at the connector was a canbus wire which lead me to believe that the oem radio wakes by canbus and not regular acc. I tried to reach out to the maker of the box but never got a reply. So i ended up having to run my own acc for it from whatever was available as the screen was not waking with the signal from that canbus wire alone.

            • The box itself will not cause a drain but it's sending canbus messages that keep another module awake and that will cause drain. It needs more investigation. Newer cars also need 30-45 mins for all the modules to 'fall asleep'. Check after that without opening any doors.

            • Something shorting together and sending 'next' signal to the unit.

            • If the numbers change on your SWC buttons all the time, get your clock spring inspected at a shop. It will not keep its function when those numbers are not steady.

            • I would be careful buying high value items on Ali. I've been buying from China for many years and many items. Most times it works out but occasionally it doesn't. You have be firm but polite and if the discussion with the seller hits a dead end, then file a dispute through the system and/or Paypal. For a case like this, I would buy directly from the manufacturer site, and only if they support Paypal, even if it's more expensive. #1 they would be more inclined to provide after sales support. #2, on Ali you may never know if you're buying from an official reseller, manufacturer, or gray market, and any support you seek from the manufacturer may be denied.

            • maxingato I don't have this car so i cannot suggest anything to you, it could be harmful to the car to use the wrong power source. I had to use BCM due to no availability of other accessory power that also turns off with ignition. I recommend you try to look for this type of power source somewhere else that is more safe to tap into, ie. into one of the fuses with a fuse tap.
My canbus box is a GM-SS-05 by Simplesoft, so i cannot give you any good info for your unit.

TLDR: I think you may have misunderstood my post, I used a BCM pin only to power the canbus box, and not for any canbus function

            • In case you're still around...I have a 2010 Silverado. You need to have a separate speaker unit with your canbus box and harness, otherwise you will not get any warning chimes. Otherwise, our trucks are pretty old and have very basic canbus. The max you will get is door opening display and chimes and the other functions like dim the screen with headlights on are not canbus related to my knowledge.

Just curious, where did you get your ACC from? I had the same struggle, ended up using the BCM under the driver's knee panel.

              • Check the fuse on the back, it's blown or not. If it keeps blowing, then contact a mechanic to figure out why (or do it yourself if you can).
