  • Rear Camera not working - pointers appreciated

Hi, I've got a Dudu7 installed in a 2014 Skoda Yeti. After a fair bit of wrestling everything is working fine - steering wheel controls, audio, bluetooth, radio etc.

The rear camera isn't working though. It's triggered correctly when I put the car into reverse, but I get no picture. I've tried messing with settings on the head and resetting, but to no avail.

The camera is the factory one. No modifications.

I have the camera 'adaptor' in the picture below, sent with the head unit, but I have no way of understanding if this is the correct one.

I've installed it into the vacant 26 pin connector, then put the yellow video lead into the socket on the back of the head unit.

I'd appreciate some specific guidance on

  1. Have I installed it correctly. i.e. the only wire going into the unit from this adaptor is the yellow "Cam Video In"

  2. If installed correctly, is there any settings I need to change? Someone else mentioned dip switches. They are non external on my adaptor. Are there some inside?

  3. How do I know if I have the correct adaptor?

Thanks in advance for any help offered!

Mark

You need to connect that yellow tulip to the other yellow tulip on the main head unit harness

Neckbone OK thanks. Daughters run off with the car so will take a look but don't recall that existing.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still a bit confused as I don't have a female yellow tulip to plug the male yellow tulip into. i.e. there isn't one on the harness I was supplied ( I did ask for all cables including those to get the reverse camera working !).

Looking at the DUDUAUTO Wiring Diagram here - https://wiki.dudu-auto.com/en/installation/wirings the reverse camera is on 10 pin input [F], so I presume I need yet another cable that has a female yellow tulip connected to Pin F6 and I should for good measure connect the other wires alos ( GND, BATTERY B+ and BACK).

Could someone point me at a suitable cable?

    Thanks

You don't have an F-interface? Unbelievable. It's standard.

OK, mea cupla, there was a cable I hadn't found stuck in the bottom of the box...which connects to input [F] Reversing Camera and provides an input tulip. Yippee. I thought this would just make it work, but it doesn't.

I've tried to work from the DUDUAUTO Wiring Diagram, but this makes no sense in my context - a Skoda Yeti 2014. i.e. to connect back (G5) I will have to slice open the wiring on the Power Supply Connector and I don't think that is the problem anyway. As the head unit is sensing when I put the car into reverse and moving to the reverse screen.

The problem seems to be that a video signal is not being send on the video input tulip. Is there a way I can test if a video signal is appearing ?

Also, as I've converting an a Skoda / VW System, I don't think the camera needs power from the head unit, is that correct?

Also, what does B+ stand for on the picture above?

      Thanks!

thejazzlord B+ indicates 12V constant. How did you wire the RGB decoder box, please take a picture!

dudu-lai I haven't actually wired it, as I understood it only the video tulip needed connecting, but that's not working so I obviously do need to try something else.

Do I need to splice the power cable to access back(G5) and where should I source B+ from?

          M

thejazzlord Have you read the instructions in the wiki in detail?
If you're a non-professional, get a professional to install it for you, plus the wiring diagram I posted earlier.
