  • Reoccuring wifi issue with hotspot connection

  • Edited

Hi,

I have this issue again. Last time I did a hard reset of my DUDU7 device and it helped. (This points to it being a DUDU device issue, not my WiFi hotspot).

This time, it happened after updating the software to the latest release. But the previous time, it happened without any apparent reason, so I can't pinpoint it to the software release.

I'm sharing an internet connection through a WiFi hotspot.

On DUDU, I see the WiFi hotspot devices list, but I can't connect to my hotspot (nothing happens when I select my hotspot name). However, I am somehow still connected to this hotspot in the background because the internet is working correctly.

When I did "forget hotspot" and "reset WiFi settings", I could see my hotspot again, but I still couldn't connect. However, DUDU is connected to this hotspot in the background because the internet is working.

So some settings must be stored on the device, because I did not provide the password for the hotspot and it is still connected in the background after doing "forget hotspot".

I checked the bug feedback, but there are no instructions on how to log WiFi issues.

    Hey,

Are you using an iPhone by any chance for the hotspot?

If yes, it’s possible you have the iPhone USB tethering enabled in the DUDU settings, that’s of course if you also have your iPhone connected to the headunit via usb.

Assuming this could be the case with an android phone, although I’m not sure myself how usb tethering is enabled on those devices.

CHR12345 No, i'm using portable mobile 4g wlan router zte mf910. It is powered by USB from DUDU to do wake up for router. (But it has also internal battery)

I’m not sure then sorry, the only thing I can advise myself additionally is to maybe try with the 4g router connect to another power source other than the head unit and see if the issue persists, if it doesn’t then maybe the router has usb tether

          CHR12345

I just checked in the car and unplugged my router from the DUDU USB.
          The WiFi connected automatically.
You were right, it was some tethering by USB.
The strange thing is that I have had this router connected for a few months through the USB radio, and it stopped working via WiFi after the latest update.
I went through the router WiFi options, and there was no single option to set/turn on/off tethering.
          Problem solved!

rafal that’s great to hear.. I know that when the iPhone USB tethering was introduced, this also switched on automatically for me, I had internet but my WiFi was showing disconnected..

Maybe your router is being treated as an iPhone, or Android USB tethering was also enabled..

To check the iPhone tethering option, go to:

            Settings | Vehicle | Factory (passcode 108) | USB

The bottom setting I believe is the enable iPhone tethering, if it’s turn on, turn it off (a reboot is required), try again with the router connected directly to the head unit
