  • Which cellular bands for 4G?

I know I saw a list of bands for DUDU7 devices somewhere prior to purchase. Can someone point me toward the right info?

Also if anyone has advice on which cellular providers work best in the US, it would be great to know. I've confirmed AT&T works (after changing APN settings), but it seems to be slow. Still need to test it more thoroughly.

hrtloop I can confirm to you that 4G is slow no matter the provider. The same thing in Europe. Don't know about the bands though.

MihaiFlorin Ok thanks. I'm going to track that info down, compare bands to providers, and will update here once I test a few out.

What speeds are you seeing in Europe? If I can get something working that allows for FHD/1080P video, that would be enough.

I will make some speed tests tomorrow and I will post the screenshots here.

Here are the screenshots with the speedtest results. Sorry for the delay.

A telco provider told me one of the main reason the US providers don't offer service is because they can't guarantee the quality/speed of service. I guess this has to do with the number of LTE bands the dudu7 accepts....

        From one telco vendor - The device must support (at a minimum) the following set of LTE bands, which it doesnt;

        • Band 2 (1900 MHz)
        • Band 4 (2100 MHz)
        • Band 12 (700 MHz)

picasso1850 Interesting. Do you have the list of DUDU7 supported bands? I got AT&T to work, but I'm out in the sticks right now and get slow speeds with any device/provider. Will test it out later this week in the city.

Just don't take what I said as expert info, I'm just a newbie messenger. There could very well be a vendor, or many, where it works just fine in NA.

Update - now that I'm back in the city I've run a few speed tests. On the AT&T network (via US Mobile MVNO) I'm getting 20-25Mbps down and 25-30Mbps up. That should be fine for streaming, and it's much better than the 3-5Mbps I was getting in rural areas. I'll keep testing and see if the Verizon network performs any better.

Has anyone got it to work on metropcs?

hrtloop Any updates in Verizon? I'm trying to get mine working and their support is have trouble with IMEI numbers.

racerx45 I use US Mobile and through them I've gotten AT&T and Verizon networks working on the HU. You could do a super cheap plan to try it out. I did not have to supply an IMEI.

I thought it'd be nice to have a SIM in the DUDU7, but it was annoying having to manually switch to hotspot whenever I wanted to stream movies. I'm going to cancel my headunit SIM plan and stick with using a task to auto start my phone's hotspot. US Mobile has a prioritized unlimited plan for 35 a month. Just tested, and via hotspot the headunit's getting 310 down/285 up on the AT&T network.

If anyone else in the U.S. is interested, I just received a "tello" brand SIM card yesterday (data only option) and installed it in my DUDU7 - 3.5 os and I'm happy to say it WORKS!! I initially did the same as others, where I tried to verify the DUDU7 IMEI number on Verizon and other sites and it never returned as valid. I even called tello customer service and they said their card wouldn't work because the device IMEI number I gave them indicated it did not support the three bands?? I decided to chance it anyway and ordered the cheapest option (2GB data, zero mins).

I first registered the SIM card using my computer. After finally figuring out how to open up the SIM card holder I inserted the SIM card and hoped for the best. Not sure if it matters, but I made sure the DUDU7 was connected to my home WIFI first just incase it needed data to register. And then after inserting the SIM I rebooted the HU. I was about to be disappointed, but after about 5 mins I saw that it registered on the T-Mobile network with 4G, and I was getting data! This morning when I started the vehicle, I wasn't connected. I tried turing the SIM on/off, rebooting, etc. and finally after about 10 mins saw it registered. I'm not sure if it was something I did or it just takes that long to register. This time I saw it connected to T-Mobile's "EDGE" network.

So, it definitely works. I just hope I don't have to reboot the HU each time I get in the car or have to wait 10 mins just to get it to connect. Are other people experiencing the same as well?

                Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for sharing yesterday I spent like 2 hours chatting with Xfinity mobile they asked me for the EMEI and then like robots the proceeded to tell me that the EMEI number is invalid and this indicates their network won't work for this devices. I asked them to just activate the line and send me the micro sim but they wouldn't do it cause the EMEI could not be registered on their network.

alavideo - quick update: so far, the unit does seem to reconnect automatically after re-starting the vehicle, but it may take a minute or two to connect/register on the cellular network.

McDudu - not sure where you are located, but I was able to order the tello SIM through their website without any issue.

alavideo same here, i have placed the order. thanks for your feedback and for sharing your experience with tello
