  • Help with CANBUS setup - Toyota Corolla Fielder 2019

I recently installed a dudu7 in my 2019 Toyota Corolla Fielder and purchased this faceplate and CANBUS connector:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005702580556.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.3.5509f19cn0K3bG

All is working well aside from the features that require CANBUS such as steering wheel controls etc. When I selected the car in the CANBUS menu there was no option for Fielder so I chose DUDU < TOYOTA < COROLLA < 2014-2020.auto as this seemed to be the closest match.

Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong here, its all connected up fine as far as I know and everything else is working as expected except for the CANBUS features. Am I selecting the wrong option in the menu or is there something I'm missing?

Any help is much appreciated in advance, Thanks.

You dont have canbus box, just regular cable.

Josh If all the connectors from the received harness connect to the car, you must try to learn the SWC controls in the SWC settings. You have attached a screenshot with where you can do this.
In the canbus settings where you selected DUDU/Toyota/Corolla you must select NULL, because like the other member of the forum said you don't have a CANBUS decoder box.

I see...what should the CANBUS decoder box look like? The item I got with the frame on AliExpress was called "QSZN 9" Car Frame Fascia For Toyota Corolla Axio 2 Fielder 3 E160 2012 - 2021 Adapter Canbus Box Decoder Cable Radio Panel Kit".

Josh That is only a wrong description. If you wanted you could buy ant an extra cost a canbus decoder box (if your car supports it) but not all the cars support CANBUS decoders.

This is how is supposed to look like. More than sure the seller thought or knows (less likely) that your car doesn't need a CANBUS decoder.

Right, well my steering wheel controls are currently working to control the dashboard and the dash displays open doors etc, so the functionality is being accessed already. Any idea where I can get a CANBUS decoder box that will work with my car?

Josh Why do you need it exactly? If the original functionality is preserved? It won't bring anything extra and it might mess things up.

MihaiFlorin Well I'd like to be able to use all the features of the head unit: steering wheel controls for volume, displaying if doors are open etc. The dash is completely also completely in Japanese so I would like these features on the head unit working

Josh In order to do this you must contact your seller. But like I have told you, it might make things worse. So to understand better, your volume buttons from the steering wheel are not working at the moment, with this harness? Not all the cars support a CANBUS decoder, don't ask me why. And what do you mean by dash? Can you make a photo/screenshot with the dash in Japanese?

Yeah ill get some screenshots of this later today

Here are some pictures of the dash. These menus are navigated with the steering wheel controls, but I have no use for any of it. After translating it I've found out its just various information and settings to do with measuring fuel economy etc, so if I could use the SWC to control volume on the dudu7 that would be much more useful. It would also be nice to display the open doors on the head unit too (since this functionality is available on the dudu7)

You can try to change the language here to see if the language on the dashboard is changing

Or you should try to see if you have any settings on the dashboard menu for the language. In my Corolla 2019 I can have English on the dashboard and Romanian on the original Toyota head unit. What I mean is that at least in my case the language of the dashboard menus do not depend on the language of the head unit.

Thanks for the help so far all. Anyone know of a decent option for either bluetooth or wired steering wheel controls I can hook up to the DUDU7 head unit to control playback and volume?
