  • Sleep/Shutdown configuration question

Hello. I recently purchased my Dudu7 headunit and couldn't be more happy with it!

I would like to ask something though. I saw that I can choose if I prefer to shutdown or sleep
the headunit when I park my car. Is there an option though, to keep the headunit in sleep for
some time and then when this time passes to shutdown completely?

This would be handy when we stop for a while and don't want to wait again for the complete boot of the unit.

I think now the unit monitors the vehicles voltage and shuts down when this drops under a certain value.
What is this value of voltage that the units shut down? Isn't this way more dangerous of depleting the battery?

Thanks !

I have no idea about the voltage, but it completely shuts down after 2-3 days.
When in deep sleep mode the power consumption is so low (<10 mA) that with an average battery it can last a month before the battery is at about 50% (which is necessary to be able to start the car).
So the complete shutdown after 2-3 days is a really safe setting.
The average Marter beep signalling unit (when installed under your hood) takes much more power.

Thanks for the reply. If indeed the power consumption is below 10ma, then there
is no need to worry for sleep mode depleting the battery.

Shutting down completely after 2-3 days is providing an even better piece of mind.

I 'll try to monitor the headunit's behaviour on this point and see how it behaves.

And, how did it behave?

Hello! At least for me (as far as I have tested) headunit does not shut down completely when
    selecting sleep instead of shutdown.
I wish that duduteam adds an option to shutdown the device after some (configurable) time.

      How did you test?
And what do you mean that it doesn' t completely shutdown: After how many days?

I think the car remained off for at least 2 days. The test is simple. I just select sleep on the dudu headunit and
shut down my car. The unit sleeps and when I turn my car back on I see the initial "desktop" immediatelly (no loading).
If I select shut down at the dudu headunit when I restart my car the headunit loads the operating system for a few seconds
before going to the "desktop" (normal behaviour).

If the operating system is programmed to shut down in 3 days even if we select sleep then I believe it would
be better to have this as an option (for example perhaps somebody wants to completely shut down after 1 hour).

This option would be great. I had something like this with original Teyes firmware- headunit would completely shut down after 3 days of sleeping.

There is no option to completely shutdown your system after 1 hour. Why would you want this? If it automatically shuts down completely after approximately 3 days, and the sleep power usage is enough to last a normal car battery for 30 days to reach 50% load, then why?

This is the standard behavior. Your Teyes was a FYT unit. Your Dudu is a FYT unit. They behave exactly the same when it comes to the sleep mode.
