  • DUDU7 6+64g I don't receive calls nor can I call from the sim

Hello, I have been searching and looking and there is no option to make calls or receive from the SIM card that I bought for the screen, it would have to have a call and msg option independent of the bluetouch option of the phone, since the idea is to have an independent line in the car, as I had before in a 7" 1dim android radio, which I had from 2018 and it was a good option. It can be added, thanks.

Verema Have you tried to install google phone and google messages? Although you won't receive any notification for the messages. You have to check manually for new messages.

MihaiFlorin No, since I don't see it as normal that the screen itself does not have the option to call and receive from the SIM, I will try to install it to see if I receive calls and can make them, thank you

Verema Normally the calls should be handled only through bluetooth and the SIM card in the unit used only for data. Really don't know why, but his is what I know. What I told you earlier is just an workaround that I found out about on the telegram group. Joining the telegram group is a better idea to get some answers faster.

Verema generally the idea of head unit is to use cellural data only not to make phone calls directly

I can make a call using Google phone app but I don't receive any calls. I have same phone number on Sim in Dudu that I have in my phone and smartwatch.
Phone and smartwatch both receive calls but Dudu doesn't.
It's wierd because Dudu doesn't reckognise my phone number (there is a blank space in Sim settings under phone number option)

Gwinambele At the moment it will not work. If it will ever work?
You have to make and receive calls via Bluetooth.

Previously I had a 7 inch 1dim android radio with android 5 that let me both call and receive from the sim card installed in the radio without having to connect the phone.

The problem that I also see is that it does not notify any notification of incoming messages, WhatsApp or incoming calls and I think that may be the problem.

With the Google Phone application you can make calls without problem, but since you do not receive incoming notification of any kind, you do not have the option to answer anything, neither telegram, nor whas, nor incoming calls.

At least in the tests I have done

It is possible. But if it is important to DUDUAUTO...
              I think not.
              They could make it possible.

Verema You can get notifications, but not in real time if you enable FYT Navbar (the upper one) in the settings. But this only on 7870.

So I don't see much use in having a SIM card in the dudu, since nowadays you can send data to the dudu with 5G speeds from a phone via Wi-Fi, which runs faster than from the screen's own 4G. dudu, it's my thinking

Verema You just do as you wish. The advantage for me is I don't depend on the phone. But everybody is allowed to have a different opinion.

Yes, looking at it like that is fine, but it depends if you depend since you need it to be able to call and receive calls jajajaja,

You can receive and make calls. You can sync your phone with your unit. And you'll have all your contacts on your head unit if you give the necessary permissions.

We are not talking about BT calls.

Gwinambele The way these devices are meant to be used is to create less distractions as possible. If you want calls and messages is only your choice. At the moment this is not possible. But like I said earlier not everyone has the same needs. If the devs would implement this functionality or not is only their choice. I am not an expert but I think this is more a hardware limitation than software. Although these devices are android devices, you must understand that they are not functioning like an android phone.

I think the distraction is the same if you have to call or answer from your phone, or you do it from the dudu, if it's a hardware issue I don't know the truth, but in the old android radio with version 5 that had the sim reader was the same, the only thing that is if you had the option to call and receive. It would be a very good option if it could be added in future updates It's my way of thinking

JhonnyD i dont think so. It depends on FYT. And they tried to do it but there was too much issues related.

At the end of the day its not a phone but a car head unit which should work as a headset.

That whole topic about the non-availability of incoming calls through the internal sim card is quite old acctually. I have been wanting it since I got my m6pro 1 year ago. The most detailed explanation as to why it is not possible I could get from the developers here was that this feature was limited by the basic FYT system on which the whole range of head units by Mekede / DuduAuto is built on. So unless FYT changes it in the future by new hardware, nothing will change. Don't expect anything.

Anyone find a solution for receiving WhatsApp, Messenger, or Google Voice calls and notifications?
