Contact list synced from the phone isn't sorted properly. If there's a special character like "Ł" or "Ś" it will be in the first positions on the list and should be respectively between L and M) and (between S and T). Check possible Regex.
Another thing is that list is by default sorted by a surname then by a name. When you use "quick search" by pressing a letter next to the list, it searches using first letter of name. It makes the function is unusable.
