Music not available on stock media player

Using the built in media player that has options for bluetooth, radio, and local music, it will not find or recognize music that I have added to the device. I have created and put music in a dedicated music folder in the main directory, I have added it to the folder that has music preloaded from the factory, and I have used multiple usb sticks in all 3 of the usb ports. When I have it scan for the music it finds only 9 songs (always the same 9 songs), out of a folder with nearly 200 songs in it. The music is detected and playable by using another music app - but I'd really like to use the stock app as it has the radio integration with it. The files are all visible in the file explorer as well - you can click on them and it opens the local media app but does not play them. Is there another way to add music to the media player besides just scanning - like selecting a folder? Please advise.

Please try to (re)scan. It is necessary for the buitlin player every time new music is added.
That also means the very first time you copy music to your device.

I have scanned probably 10 times. Rebooted the unit and scanned. Force closed the player and then rebooted and scanned again. Cleared data and cache on the app and rebooted then scanned. It will find the same 9 songs and on subsequent scans, it says no new songs found. I have checked for updates to the app. I have updated to the newest OTA release of the software.
