Unknown CANBUS version! | No sound, vehicle information or SWC buttons working

Hello! I have recently installed a DUDU7 in my car and encountered a few problems. I would really appreciate some feedback or help troubleshooting 🙂

【1】Firstly, there are no sound coming from the speakers when using the DUDU7. Neither from using Bluetooth, local music or anything else. I have reinstalled the original head unit in between using the DUDU7 and verified that the sound system still works.

Secondly, there is no vehicle information, such as a door opened, displayed on the DUDU7. The steering wheel buttons does not work either.

I have otherwise had no issues using the DUDU7. Bluetooth connection, Android Auto and such seems to be working as intended.

【2】Mitsubishi Lancer 2011 model with original Rockford Fosgate sound system.

【4】I have tried to extract the CANBUS log as described in the "How to give correct feedback..." post. The txt-file is added to the Google Drive folder linked bellow. I also took a video of the screen with CANBUS information displayed while pushing some of the steering wheel buttons.

I assume the problem is related to the CANBUS, since the the version information displays "Unknown CANBUS version!". I have tried a few other CANBUS protocols (still Simple but other brands and Mitsubishi models), but with no other outcome. Since there is traffic from the CANBUS (information on screen and log-file) I assume that wiring and such is OK.
My not professional opinion is that there is a SW issue with the CANBUS, but you guys can hopefully determine if the problems caused by the CANBUS or DUDU7.

In the end, I would really like to know if I need a new/different harness/CANBUS.

EvoKid The CANBUS box is not working.

Please take a photo of the OEM connector as shown in the image below to confirm whether it has a CAN bus.

The wiring harness and CANBUS box are correct.

Sound issue: You need to connect pin 10 of the CANBUS box to the DUDU AMP CONT for sound to work.

SWC issue: Connect KEY1 in the image to DUDU's G7.

Then go to DUDU Settings - SWC Learning - Key Function Mapping.

So I have done the chances as described above, and things are starting to work!

As for sound, that is now working all around the car 🙂 The only exception is that the subwoofer seems to be non functional, even with the bass boost set to 10.

The SWC is responding after going over the wiring. There are no default preset, but the "Click To Learn" works.

At this point I intend to order a new CANBUS identical to the model I already have. Since it is established that it doesn't work, I might as well get a new one when they are quite cheap.

EvoKid Is it the factory-installed subwoofer, or was it added later?

I have the factory subwoofer, yes. It is not a after marked one

EvoKid The DUDU subwoofer settings can only be controlled by connecting to the SUB audio interface.

Aha, makes sense.
To my understanding the CANBUS would normally make the original sub and amp work with the rockford fosgate system (as well the SWC and car information). Since we have established that the CANBUS does not work in my instance, I believe the path of least resistance is to buy a new and working CANBUS rather than rewire.

Hi again!
An update here from my side. I ordered a new CANBUS of the same make and type;

I then swapped out the CANBUS without making changes to the wiring.
Unfortunately, there was no change in the problems I have experienced. "Unknown CANBUS version!" is still present. The chances of receiving 2 faulty CANBUS is rather slim in my opinion.

Any suggestions to what may be the problem? Should I try another brand of CANBUS (like Raise) with a new harness?

EvoKid Take a close look at the cables on the CAN bus box. My brother-in-law had the exact same problem. And upon closer inspection, some cables were loose, which led to the problem.

Thank you for reaching out with troubleshooting tips!

I took the advice and went over the wires to the CANBUS box. After going over the connectors I re-seated all of them. Every wire looked more or less like this one;

After the re-seating I made sure that the wires were not loose from the CANBUS connector box. I have not found any chart for the CANBUS to make sure that the wires are connected correctly, but I would suppose they are.

To my demise, it did really not make a difference🙁 But I will take with me the probability of the harness or a wire to be the culprit and order a new harness.
