Active Microphone

Currently, i am using Honda's genuine 2 pin (mic + and mic - wires) passive Microphone with Dudu7 using a special box that amplifies the voltage and plug into Dudu.

I was thinking to switch to an Honda HFL active mic that has its own 12v, ACC and GND wire and then Mic + and Mic - wires same like the passive mic that connects to the HU, has anyone tried something like this before?

HAccord8 yes, I use mine and it works. Things to remember:

microphone module is 12V, there is a step down converter inside as microphone uses normally 1-3V. Now, before assuming it's 12V, measure it, may be much lower going from OEM radio and usually it's not 12V.
Dudu outputs around 3V on the external mic socket so it's not enough to power up your microphone.
you need to feed 12V into the mic line via filter and resistor and also use a capacitor before connecting to Dudu so 12V doesn't destroy the HU.

Mikescotland so your microphone is Active mic too?

My current Honda 2 pin mic is connected via that black box so what that box is doing it increases voltage to 8v (required by 2 pin mic) coming from Dudu 7 and then feed audio, something like this in my attachment. This 2 pin Honda factory mic is a passive mic

Now, what im trying to do about my the other active Honda factory mic that i am trying to make work can connect to 12v and GND for power like my wiring diagram in first post and also has those 2 mic + and mic - wire like the passive wire that goes to the HU, if i connect them directly to Dudu with this black box, will it pick up audio?

HAccord8 yes, but there is some confusion in our conversations.
All microphones in the car are active, including these with two pins only. All of them are electret microphones and they require around 2V to work (that's standard). Everything else built around them is voltage regulators and filters, and different cars send different voltages to microphone unit (yours is sending 8V, mine originally was sending 4V). A passive microphone would be dynamic (coil and magnet style) one.
Dudu external microphone is also active, so we might actually be better off using the term "oem microphone" instead of active microphone.

Mikescotland aa thanks ChatGPT confused me lol. So that Honda 5 pin with independent 12v,ACC and GND and then Mic + and Mic - wires would work directly with Dudu without any voltage down device or that black box im using?

HAccord8 I don't know. Mic + and mic - might be already after DC filter so in theory it could. First connect 12 and GND and check with multimeter if there is any DC on mic + and mic -. If there isn't, connect mic + do hot pin in Dudu mic socket and mic - to GND.

Mikescotland hey mate, i connected the positive to 12v and GND to ground and there was no voltage on Mic+ and Mic - wire. What do you suggest connect to directly to Dudu mic + and mic - to test?

HAccord8 I think you should also check if there is voltage between Mic+ and GND.
