External Mic not working

So. I have the 13" Mekede DuduOS installed for my 2022 Toyota Camry.

The external mic isn't working. With the gain all the way up to 7. Anyone who calls me cant hear a word im sayin. The mic is plugged in correctly.

Im kind of at a loss of what to do next. There doesn't seem to be a "Turn Mic On" button nowhere in the settings.

Any help will be appreciated

jaynicole This device has a built-in microphone. If you unplug the external microphone, please check if the built-in microphone is working properly.

The built in mic works. But its barely audible. I have to scream pretty loudly for them to hear me.

Should i just go out and buy a aftermarket external mic and give that a try?. Not being able to take phone calls while in the car isnt fun.

So in searching for an external mic. The ones that come up the for a car is the external mic that already came with the head unit.

Is there a different one. You can recommend?
I noticed the reviews on those aren't great.

Sorry to hijack this thread but I'm having the same issue on a dudu5 for a nissan Navara

My internal mic doesn't work, but I don't care about that as they are rubbish anyway. But the external mic jack does nothing. I have tried 3 different mics and checked the wiring and the connection to the mic jack and nothing.

OP if you go to settings , about device, scroll down and you will see android settings, click that

At the top you will see box settings, click that, then scroll down to mic switch, change that to box mic. That will manually switch it to the external mic. If that doesn't work it's probably a faulty loom or unit like mine, unless someone else comes along with another way to get the mic jack working

Also the best external mic for the these is the Olympus me52w

But if you want a cheaper one that is also an improvement the chord slm-35 is good

A definite improvement and inexpensive but you need to point it right at you, it's a directional mic, not omnidirectional like the cheap ones that pic every bit of noise up, also turn the mic gain up

Both of these work with the small voltage provided by Chinese head unit's

Definitely will try those settings. Are the duduOS settings or the actual android settings?

Definitely adding one of those mucs to my list. Right under reverse camera 😅

Also you need to switch to external mic Which is in the sound settings, you have to scroll down to find it. This solved my problem. This along with removing the internal mic and using the chord slm-35 mic , my call quality is now better than the standard mic I had in my car

I havnt, i dont even have the option to switch to the external mic. The directions they gave me must be for a different version of DuDu7. So i went and bought a new one and will have it installed this week hopefully that's the issue. I have a 2022 Toyota Camry. So i dont know if the menu settings are different than other
