2 questions/possible bugs about latest beta

1) Android Auto/carlink retains the bottom status bar/isn't full screen. I was able to find a way to hide the status bar completely by using the status bar hiding action button through the icon set change in launcher settings, but the bar won't come back on a swipe up. Is there a way to go full screen with Android Auto and/or hide the status bar and bring it back successfully?

2) I only have 2 layout options - minimalist and borderless. Is there anyway to get the regular layout that I've had by using the global launcher?

This is not a bug.
After CarPlay screen mirroring is successfully established, the layout will not change. Hiding or showing the navigation bar will only add black borders or cause touch offset.
Therefore, we have agreed to adopt a solution where the navigation bar and CarLink coexist in later stages.

DUDU-Meng that's odd to me. I've installed the beta on an atoto s8g2 standard for reference. Their implementation of carlink takes over the entire screen upon connection. Is that not possible with dudu?

Any idea about the layout question?

Systems without a navigation bar can occupy the entire screen.

koftheworld it's not odd and it's actually quite fine solution. Some cars have aircon integrated to Dudu and other two way communication. Having a slide out for air conditioning from navigation bar is convenient (or simply volume adjustment or quick exit from carlink) . User doesn't need to to all apps potentially closing carlink and controls for aircon are always available.
It's the same on factory units, carplay or android auto coexist with navigation and other buttons on the same screen.

DUDU-Meng I may not be explaining myself properly. On atoto, there is a nav bar at the top of the screen. It can be hidden by apps freely. For example, you can install a different launcher such as agama that will hide it. You can access it again by dragging your finger down from the top of the screen. Similarly, carlink connects and hides the same top nav bar. I'm looking for the same experience with the bottom nav bar on dudu. I have figured out the button to hide the nav bar, but the swipe up command doesn't seem to work. Let me know if you want to see pictures.

koftheworld top one is status bar (original FYT) and bottom is navi bar. See my post above why it's a better solution than not having it.

Mikescotland I understand what you mean and appreciate it, but not necessary for me all the time. the top bar on the Atoto functioned as a nav bar as well. It had all of the same controls. Again though, there is an easy way to hide that bottom bar in dudu launcher settings but I can't get the swipe up gesture to function.

koftheworld it's not so easy with carlink because whole area becomes touch input passed via carlink to your phone. That's why bringing back navi after hiding doesn't work. Status bar is simple, swipe and it appears, the method Dudu implemented bringing back navi is a bit crude - press in a specific area and then it appears, won't work in carlink as this area is already touch sensitive for carlink.
I'm not saying it can't be implemented, personally I don't get why it's not swipe up. And giving the user an option to auto hide or not would be great but well...

My bug is when using the nav bar icon to hide it. The swipe up doesn't work. The auto hide feature would be awesome if it returned, but I can love with the above if swipe up was fixed.

Once again, let me explain that CarLink does not support changing the resolution or layout after successful screen mirroring, as this will cause black borders or touch misalignment.
If you hide the navigation bar in advance, CarLink will run in full-screen mode, and its touch range will cover the entire screen. If you then pull out the navigation bar, the touch response will shift.
If you wish to use CarLink, you cannot allow the navigation bar to be freely shown or hidden. You must choose one or the other.

Before opening the CarLink app, you must manually hide the navigation bar first, then launch CarLink.
This is the only way to proceed.

DUDU-Meng right, that's fine. Unfortunately I can get the bar to hide manually, but I can't get it to come back after quitting car link using the indicated swipe up gesture.

Please upload a screenshot of your system information. If you're using 7862, you can configure both the bottom navigation bar and top status bar to display simultaneously. This allows you to easily slide to reveal the hidden navigation bar.

koftheworld The return gesture works by adding "Bottom Margin" from the Settings > CANBUS > Factory Set > Adjast Screen Display Area.

(In my case, it doesn't work with a margin of 0, but it works with more than 1)

Saburo this was a great suggestion, but I couldn't get a big enough area without putting a large margin on the screen. Interesting approach.

The embedded screen you're using prevents your finger from reaching the bottom edge. Adjusting the margins is recommended, ideally displaying the top status bar as well. This will make swiping more responsive.

DUDU-Meng i appreciate the response, but it looks like i need to wait for dudu to fix the full screen app issue instead. i'm not sure how atoto did it, but they were able to get android auto full screen hiding the top nav bar automatically. i've attached an example screen shot of how it looked on my system and you can see a similar atoto unit functioning this way here https://youtu.be/zUlAlbsyrJA?si=2T-p8Q_LftcnmB0h&t=288.
