Petal maps not working

Hi, I am trying to use petal maps on my dudu7 head unit. The app installs fine, but then when I try and open it I get the message "map service is unavailable in your current region"

I am in the UK and have my region set to Europe in the head unit settings, which is a supported region in petal maps. I have tried changing the region which hasn't made any difference.

I have installed petal maps on my phone, which is set to the same region as the head unit and the app works with no issues. Can anyone help me please?

DUDU-Meng Yes I can, there are no issues with it being used on my phone. It is just on the head unit that the "map service is unavailable in your current region" error occurs.

The only difference between the region settings on the head unit and the phone, is that on my phone I am able to have my region set to "United Kingdom", and on the head unit it is just "Europe" as there isn't an option to set it to the UK. But I am still unsure why that would make a difference as Europe is a supported region for petal maps.

BBishop123 see another thread, it's completely unrelated to region settings. It's something to do with the device itself.

The problem is how Dudu treats region.
The Android definition for region is country like NL, US, UK, JP, etcetera. Not continent like Dudu uses it.
There is not a country in the world called Europe, South Azia, etcetera.
Go into "About Device" -> "Android settings". That's the real Android Settings. Maybe you can change it there.

surfer63 Thank you, I have already looked in there, and I can only change the language etc there. There isn't any option to change the "android settings" region unfortunately :/

surfer63 there's no settings for that in Dudu. I suspect it's hardcoded (probably some strange country, as if it was China, petal maps would work). And region settings in Duduos are just localisation of their server for stats etc.

YAOXILONG you can only edit language but not region / locale in Dudu. Unless there is some hidden setting. Editing language does what it says, changes ONLY the language.

What brand of phone can normally use Huaban Maps? This map seems to be for Huawei phones, right?

DUDU-Meng any android device android 7.0 or above can download petal maps and it works on all other devices I have tested it on, my phone, my tablet, my friends phone, and it even worked on my android tv. It is only on the dudu7 head unit that I am getting the "map service is unavailable in your current region" message.

DUDU-Meng no, map is available for all devices:

older android versions on Google play (huawei restriction imposed by Google)
all android versions on Huawei app gallery.

That doesn't really getting us any closer to a resolution, we already know hardcoded region in Dudu is wrong for petal maps.
What we want to know:

what region is set in android system settings (tab which was removed by Dudu so noone can change it)
how to change the android region, which is on full android menu unrestricted by Dudu SEPARATE from language setting.
Bear in mind, Dudu also removed locale settings from android system, so using UK English which is properly and nicely translated (unlike chaos in US English) brings wrong date and locale format for US users.

Bottom of the line, why the heck you're making such trivial things so complicated and inflexible in Dudu. Changing Android region removal, while Dudu is in China and it's restricted to test some apps, so you can't confirm they work in other countries - it's beyond my imagination.
Simple, bring region and locale settings in android menu and everyone is happy.
And other thing, instead of asking gazillion question, why don't you just instal petal maps and try. And before you ask another silly question - yes, OP has their Dudu unit connected to the power supply and yes, they performed reboot.
