Volume slider location config

Hi dear esteemed developer, mod and admin,

Just wondering, is it possible to make the volume slider showat the center of the screen (like normal head unit in market) instead of at the side? or make it configurable or changable between side or center. Bacause, the center display looks more head unit style rather than standard android stock volume slider.

Setting the volume to the middle seems a bit unreasonable, and I've never come across a design that places the volume control in the center position.

Its looks more like car head unit rather than smartphone and easier to see.

Yes it's not Dudu. He showed and said "something like that" meaning he'd like to have such layout for volume in Dudu.

You might have misunderstood me. How could I not know that's not DUDU's volume bar?
I understand what he means. My point is that this style isn't DUDU's style. DUDU only does vertical volume bars. That's the design philosophy—anything horizontal is simply not being considered right now. At least in the short term, the team won't be looking into it.
Because we transitioned from an ugly horizontal design to a vertical one. If we were to revert back to the original horizontal bar in the middle of the screen, then nearly all the previous work would have been for nothing.

DUDU-Meng well, you don't consider people in the UK, Japan, Ireland, India, Australia etc.
For me the volume bar is far far away from me because my steering wheel is on the right in the car.... I can't really swap everything on the screen so it's a mirror version of your design prepared for left side steering wheel location.
Same with app vertical bar and home buttons on navi...

Es könnte doch alles so einfach sein. Lasst die Leute doch selbst entscheiden was sie wollen.
Baut einen horizontalen und vertikalen Lautstärke Balken ein und lasst die Leute per Schalter entscheiden was sie wollen.
So könntet ihr das mit vielen Dingen machen.
Ob die Firmware nun 1,7 GB oder 2 GB hat, wen interessiert das?
Ihr und die Firmware müsst viel flexibler werden 😁

Mikescotland i second this because i am from country with right hand drive. The OSD for volume seem tu be more like android phone rather than a real infotainment head unit. From my perspective it looks like a tablet placed at the center console of dashboard rather than an integrated head unit. All the UI is nice and nicely adopted material design approach but the volume OSD is still looks like phone/tablet (99% of all OEM head unit have horizontal volume bar OSD). But it only my 2 cents from your customer and user perspective/standpoint (i own DUDU headunit, not just installing DUDU OS on the 7862 devices)

Left-right switching is achievable, but the top section currently lacks a design style. I can document this for the DUDUAUTO team to evaluate.

hafiz_tahir exactly. The choice of font, lack of visual shadows, lack of font styling etc, it's like a simple graphic from Windows 2000.

This is what I should do. Switching between left and right is easy to implement. Redesigning the top section and sourcing new materials is more complicated. If approved, it might take some time to actually add and complete it.

DUDU-Meng i think you should consider it. The best design philosophy is continuous feedback and improvement, even it takes times. Not denial. Agree with @Mikescotland

P/s : my friend ask me about the headunit "what tablet do i use as my head unit?", see, even public out there saw this as tablet because of the similarity in some UI element. U need to blend the UI (and keep your "design philosophy" up to date) with the UI for the actual headunit in the market.

But at the end of the day, its up to DUDU decision. Just my view.

Currently, there is no design for a right-side vertical navigation bar. For now, you can move the Android control key controls from the bottom navigation bar to the right side, positioning them closer to the right edge.

I'd like to chime in and say that I think the option to have the volume slider horizontal rather than vertical, and to be able to choose where it is on the screen when being used, couldn't hurt and will only benefit users with different preferences.

For me personally, the vertical slider isn't as intuitive to use while driving and is difficult to access. And tapping the plus or minus over and over on the nav bar is a hassle from high to low volumes.

The option to have a Volume Knob pop up in place of the slider, after tapping the plus or minus on the nav bar, would be awesome as well.

More options for users, will only benefit everyone and having an even more customizable UI is only going to be an even better selling point for the Dudu7
Half the reviews I've seen for most Android Head Units mention people missing a volume knob.

Instead of making the volume controls a set configuration that is specific to Dudu7, give users the option to use a volume slider or volume knob and let them choose the location it pops up after activating the volume control from the nav bar.
