Is it possible to increase drive levels from the Mekede DUDU7 Toslink Fiber port back to my JL Audio VX1000/5i amplifier? I have already had to turn the gain in the VX1000/5i amplifier DSP settings all the way up as well as added an additional 5dB across the frequency range EQ controls within the amplifiers DSP (which is obviously NOT DESIRABLE) to get to audio levels that I would describe are even 70% of what the VX1000/5i monster of an amplifier is capable of providing!! I mean its great that I can reach full volume of the Mekede volume control and listen to reasonably loud music that is still crystal clear out of my VX1000/5i but I have had this amplifier driven by Toslink of another competitors deck and this amplifier can easily drive several more db before physical distortion starts at my speakers. Setup is 1 DIN DUDU7 directly driving via Toslink fiber JL audio VX1000/5i DSP amplifier into 2x Kicker Solobarik 12" L5's in the sub box and 4x JL Audio ZR 650 components one In each door with a pair of Kicker 47KSMT2504 components on the A-Pillar's about an inch above the dash tucked in the corner at the windshield.
I read that earlier versions of the DUDU7 had lower drive on the fiber port (which is an interesting concept at all since there is nothing analog to drive like you would have in a 0V to say 7V RCA pre amp) so I admit I dont fully understand how this drive applies. I do have a competitor's Android deck in my other vehicle that otherwise matches this vehicles setup where there is a numeric drive control burried deep inside the deck's settings maybe even hidden behind a 4 digit password that I was able to tweak in that car. I sure hope there is something similar at play with the Mekede DUDU7 I can tweak to get this system at the sound levels it should have no issue reaching.
