Lights status change triggers PIP app restart

Have app running in PiP, in my case a DPF monitoring app VAG-DPF runs in the small PIP (right hand side). App is connected to OBD device.
Looks like this normally:

Issue: In the new OS version, when the car turns the headlights on or off, the DPF app gets restarted apparently so loses the OBD connection:

This behaviour is annoying and was not present in earlier versions, I consider it a bug.

I thought it was connected to the theme change to day/night when turning on/off the headlights. But it's not: Changed to sunset for theme change and the app still restarts once the car lights turn on or off. So it relates to the headlights signal not the theme change.

Canbus firmware has not been changed in a long time it used to work ok with the same firmware.

Settings > Display > Advanced Settings > Turn off Android system-wide dark mode synchronization.
You can also locate the OBD app you're using and disable its dark mode feature, or lock the OBD app theme to either light or dark mode.
This appears to be a feature specific to this app.

DUDU-Meng No, I don't think so:

The OBD app doesn't react to system wide dark mode signal, it has no setting to follow system. It is set to a dark theme manually - and this is not the issue I described.
The restart of the app happens when the headlights status changes, even if the theme is not changed at all (configured sunset dependency).

Any other ideas on why PiP apps are restarted by the launcher once headlights status changes? This is something new...

PS: I wanted to use always dark theme, but when I select it, the screen is also dimmed to 0 so this isn't usable during daytime. Dark theme including menus but retaining day/night dimming would be cool but doesn't seem to work in newer versions since v3.5 or so...

Later, we'll attempt to resolve the issue of decoupling the small light from the dark mode.
For now, you can temporarily use this script to fix the OBD app issue. Extract it to a USB drive, plug it in, and it will be automatically recognized.
The default setting is dark mode. You can also change the number 2 to 1 to switch to light mode.

DUDU-Meng Thanks! Will try tomorrow as I'm not seeing the car today. So for my understanding: This modifies config.txt and does not replace it, right? Or maybe there's no config.txt anymore, just know it coming from my older FYT7862.

Yes, you've understood correctly. This only modifies the config file and does not replace it. DUDU7 can be used. If you wish to modify or add other attributes, you can also use this template to modify the attributes and then insert it into the USB for execution.
