Toppal Voice Assistant removal means loosing everything?!!!!

I have spent weeks setting up my Dudu7 on a test rig in my house as it is much easier to work on there than in the car. I've set up Button Mapping, Macrodroid macros etc etc. It has been at lot of work.

I have just got it how I want so installed it in the car yesterday.

Checking how all the CANBUS interfaces work (mostly OK) I noticed the speech button on the steering wheel calls up the built in voice assistant Toppal rather than Google Assistant that I want.

Searching this forum and it seems the only way to remove Toppal is to do an OTA update to remove voice assistant. Seems like overkill but I did it anyway.

BUT NOW I FIND I HAVE LOST EVERY SETTING IN EVERY APP!!!

Surely this shouldn't happen?! Is this going to happen for any future update to the software?

Why isn't the inbuilt Voice assistant a simple toggle on/off option? I've now got to start from scratch and am not happy!!!!

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. The built-in voice assistant is a third-party option, and both its installation and removal require a app-partition erase, which unfortunately results in the loss of your current settings.

I think a big warning pop-up telling the user that they will loose all app settings etc if they perform the update would be very helpful. If I had known the consequences, I could then have backed up all of my apps, in particular the Macrodroid macros that were lost, to USB (which I have now done). That would have saved me a lot of time setting the unit up again and would stop anyone else having the same problem.

I still support what you guys are doing with DuduOS though, it has a huge potential once these type of things are sorted out.
