Internet Connection on Dudu7: Hotspot vs. SIM Card

I'm currently using a hotspot for my internet connection, but plan to use a SIM card in the future.
Does anyone use a SIM card for their internet connection? If so, what's your experience with it?
Does it work as well as a hotspot on a smartphone? Or does it cause any other problems?

I would be very grateful for some reports of your experiences so far 🙂

LXander If you have such concerns, you can simply insert your mobile phone's SIM card into DUDU7 to test it.

It's not as good as a phone. Phones are always way better than cheaper routers, they simply don't spend the money on the hardware that they do on the phones. I don't know why there is such a parity bit it is the case. I have a SIM in the SIM dongle that comes with the head unit and find it often craps out with no signal when the phone holds strong. I have it set up this way as I want it to be easy to use for the missus. But in the future I'll likely install a router and external 5g aerial and create a hotspot as my head unit is in a campervan.

I have bad experience with Dudu7 with OS3.6 using SIM card. Every month the OS is taking up 1-1.5GB internet data per month. Using data applications, it cannot drill down to trace what is being used up by the OS which is very frustrating. When in data usage module, it will only show that the OS is taking up all the data utilization.

The car is used 4-5 times a week with total of 5-7 hours total drive a week. I am only using Android Auto nearly 99% of the time of the car use.
