Which Canbus-Box to select?

@dudu-lai I think the box is needed to translate the manufacturer signals to "normal" ones. I'm not sure, though.

That is not a canbus box, its just a wiring harness. You can connect direct from the SWC to the headunit.

@MrFixer are you sure? I thought it's for decoding the canbus signals. A normal wiring harness won't work with the Fiat Ducato 8 > 2021.

@dudu-lai it's a DUDU7 with latest firmware.

@reg66 I bought the correct one for my car, it's linked in the first post.
The one that you linked, won't work with models > 2021 because they now use a modified proprietary format for the (Uconnect) radios. There is no other way, currently.

Also, the problem I'm describing is not that I don't get the signals, it works, but DUDU7 and this box won't work easily together as DUDU7 expects a 5 Sec keypress and the box expects a long keypress for it's config menu.

chbla Fair do, it's just the one I linked says up to 2022 Ducato. I figured it could be worth a go being that yours isn't working correctly on steering wheel.

SWC learning can only be done when using the 2 hard wires connected direct. If your canbus is already programmed for steering controls, you can't use the learn function.
Don't think it's possible to edit the db or cfg files in dudu so the only option would be to hard wire the 2 configurable wires that allow for SWC learning (assuming you've got those 2 wires included with your setup...)

As mentioned in the new, linked thread I've got those two wires and I can learn some of the keys.
But not all of them, the problem is that the box intercepts long presses on those keys, so I cannot long press the 5 secs that DUDU7 expects for manual learning.

Since I can see the keycodes flashing on short press, I assume this is a time that can be set somewhere. The question, as mentioned in the thread below, is how to edit the .db file to eventually add it manually.

chbla OK. As mentioned above, I don't think it's possible to edit db or cfg files (or other system files). Root not possible at this stage either

I think it could be set manually, there is a file localdata.db in the "steer" folder.
It's a json file apparently containing the mappings:

{"61":{"click":91,"key":61,"lclick":0,"mark":0},"62":{"click":24,"key":62,"lclick":24,"mark":0},"63":{"click":25,"key":63,"lclick":25,"mark":0}}

now I need to find out what the codes (61,62) are and if the file gets picked up.

dudu-lai my issue is that for the buttons I want to map, the Adapter Box intercepts all long-presses. So the problem is that DUDU7 or the app you shared expects a long press when learning...

chbla You previously mentioned that you need to press and hold for 5 seconds, but the app I sent you only requires a 2-second press and hold to learn. If this still doesn't solve your problem, there's nothing we can do. It's your CANBUS box that's blocking the signal, not the DUDU.
All Android radios require a long press, not just DUDU

chbla The whole point of you holding down the key for 5 sec is for the system to learn what value that key is. How would it know the value if you don't hold down the key?

Sorry, I can't find any CANBUS that fits this car.
