• DUDU OS
  • System app "Media Storage" taking up ALL storage (128GB)!

I have a DUDU 7 11.5 inch model. I have been experiencing this problem for the last month on OS 3.0 or 3.1 I think and recently upgraded to the latest OS 3.5 hoping it would fix the issue, but it has not.

Issue Details: The OS pops up with an out of storage message despite the fact I have not used more than 30GB (checked in storage app) total of the 128GB.

Upon further investigation it shows that the System application "Media Storage" is taking up 100GB+ of data.

I do NOT have any locally stored media (music, pictures or videos), except for some offline downloads on the Spotify App (<3GB total).

In addition, I have a DUDU ADAS camera and whilst the DVR app shows plenty of videos they are stored on the microsd card of the camera. To ensure it was not a problem I formatted the SD card but did not solve the issue over the past week.

Finally, I can force stop the Media Storage app, but as it is a system application, I cannot clear the data or cache.

As a last resort I can "Factory Reset", but. I really want to avoid having to re-setup all my applications and more importantly settings (EQ, sound settings etc.), as it would take at least 3+ hours of time.

Please advise if there is a solution or troubleshooting procedure.

Update: Started boot looping today, due to storage running out.

I was forced to factory reset, hopefully issue will not return….

It is possible that a third party app has written a large amount of storage data.
You can check the local storage for large files one by one.
If you can't, we suggest you restore the factory settings.
