  • Advise needed for buy dudu7 for Fiat Ducato RV

Hi all,

Can the forum help me? I tried to contact via whatsapp and aliexpress, but no reply (yet)

I am in the market for a unit in my RV based on a FIAT Ducato. I see some people who have this and it worked, but I need some advise:

  1. I am planning a 13”. Unit. Internal storage is unimportant, but want to have smooth operation. I mainly will use navigation and radio/spotify. is 8g sufficient or better to go for 12 inch
  2. I am planning to have the canbus unit installed. I understand this works with my RV. But what info can I get? Is it useful? Can someone give me some feedback? Which canbus unit I need to buy that works?
  3. Is the unit to be able to pair to 2 phones on Bluetooth? this one of the bummers of my earlier unit, that did not want to do this.
  4. I see on reviews you can install all kind of android software. Did someone test other Navi instead of Waze like Sygic of magicearth?
  5. I understand I need a 2” bracket and a conversion cable to ISO connectors.

Soes anyone have proper links where to buy all items? In the links on the forum I can not find brackets / cables canbus etc.
Thanks for all feedback

    Retetiba Ciao Rene',
I've successfully installed Dudu7 9.5" unit in my 2016 Ducato panel van and I can try answering some of your questions with what I've learned so far.

    1. I got the 8-128 unit and it's very smooth, especially if you don't plan to use any memory heavy apps. The only application I can see taking a while to load properly is the 360 camera, but only after a full reboot of the unit and only then.
    2. Canbus helps with a better integration with your RV systems. For example, steering wheel controls won't work without a canbus box - unless properly connected - , or you won't get an animation when a door is open, potentially you won't even be able to trigger the reversing camera when putting your RV into reverse (unless - again - you connect some other dedicated cabling). All in all I believe it makes your life easier so I highly recommend getting it. Dudu supports a plethora of canbus boxes. I got a Hiworld one, together with a 9" fascia and wiring harness for 40€.
    3. I haven't tried it yet, but I assume it can, as I can see 2 separate BT interfaces, unless 1 is only for additional systems - like OBDII interface or Dudu TMPS.
    4. You can access Google Play Store like any android device and install pretty much anything you want. I only tried the navi app shipped with the system and Google Maps and they both work well. Might try Waze too, at some point (it did not come pre-installed).
    5. The braket depends on what system you're coming from. With the fascia I got I was able to re-use the original 1DIN bracket. Same for the wiring harness. Depending on the year of your RV you'll find a different connector going into your head unit, and will have to purchase the correct adapter. The one coming with Dudu7 (universal) won't work for you.

I got everything (fascia + harness + canbus box) from here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007646742233.html
Had to adjust everything to make it fit properly, but the end result works well for me.

    Cheers,
    Chris

If you contact support through Whatsapp they should include everything tailor made to your vehicle, fascia, wiring harness, CANbus Module, etc.
I have just ordered today but have been chatting with Support for a few months now and they are very resposive, even in weekends. Very un-chinese like, so can only recommend until now.
Tomorrow the engineer will review my order and vehilcle pictures and select the best combination of hardware for my vehicle.
    A Fiat Ducato 2010 RV.
This will replace my aging Dasaita Max10 CP HD, that overheats when the cabin heater is on.
So hopefully the DUDU7 will work great with active cooling in the device, the Dasaita has no active cooling at all.

I will be using Sygic Truck/Caravan, I have been using it for years on all my Android devices, I expect it to run the best on the DUDU7 with all the power it has.
I went for the 11.5" 12G+512G version and might install a few Offline navigation applications as a backup.
The screen dimensions are about the same as the Dasiata 10" screen, 1 cm higher.
