  • Factory Reverse Camera not Working

Hi,
I just purchased a Dudu7 for my Hyundai i20 (2016). The car has a factory screen with a factory camera.

I went to replace the factory screen with the Dudu7 and everything works fine, except the factory camera.

I connected the camera connecter (which is a white box pin connector type) to the Dudu7 harness but it just doesn't work. When I enter reverse, with the factory screen it used to change immediately to the camera, but with Dudu nothing happens.

What could be the reason? Also, Dudu is never switching off when I remove the key from the car and lock it. It is staying powered on.

Can someone help me please?

Thanks in advance 🙂

jonathanabdilla Is there a CAM OUT tulip lotus header on the harness? Connect it to the CAM IN in the F section.
Are there 2 connectors labeled ACC on the harness?

dudu-lai Yes and I connected the Tulip but nothing happened. I was reading online that the factory cameras are 6V and to trigger the dudu radio, it has to be 12V. Do I need a stepdown converter or something similar?

I tested the factory camera connector when in reverse and it is measuring 6.5V.

jonathanabdilla Yes, you need a voltage reducer to step down the 12V voltage to 6.5V

We drive Suzuki cars and since, i think, 2017 ALL Suzuki cars sold in Germany has backup cam.
So there are radio sellers that knows that and are shipping harnesses with backup cam adapter.
I told DUDUAUTO about this one year ago but they still sending without. In India you can also get power harnesses with oem mic activator and backup cam adapter.
So maybe in your case it is the same.
For Suzuki there are backup cam adapters for Chinese aftermarket radios you can buy separately.
Maybe there's something similar for your car.

Thank you for the update guys I appreciate it.

Just one question; do I connect the 6V reducer to the factory harness camera connector, or to the camera harness adapter provided by Dudu? I'm a real beginner on this so I appreciate any help.

        Thanks

          jonathanabdilla Connecting Factory Camera Connectors

The thing is, the factory camera connector connects to a harness provided by Dudu. Should I not use the harness and connect directly to Dudu?

            jonathanabdilla I don't get it.
Just drop the 12V down to 6.5V to power the original camera cable.
Doesn't this cable belong to the original camera connector?
