  • Spotify widget not working after vehicle start

I'm using minimalist mode with Spotify selected in the music widget. Often (but not every time) when I start the vehicle and hit play on the widget, I get no response. The widget appears to have loaded but will not work. I'll need to start the Spotify app manually, then the widget works. Sometimes (not always) when hitting play I get an error message (see image).

The random behavior has me stumped. I've tried setting the Spotify app's battery settings to unrestricted. I've tried adding a task to start Spotify on boot. No luck.

Running DUDU7 3.5.

Add a task with a delay time, such as 3 to 7 seconds.
Then add another task to return to the homepage.

caolz I've done that, tried a variety of tasks. It only works intermittently. But that doesn't solve the underlying issue. The widget is loaded, displays the song, but doesn't play.

After booting up, the music plugin sees Spotify, but it's not running.
You need to set up an automated task that delays opening Spotify at boot, then delays returning to the desktop, and you're good to go.

Thanks for the suggestion. Here's what I've done:

        • Tried a variety of automated tasks and delay timings - open app after launch start, open app after screen on, open app after boot, 5 seconds, 10 seconds, etc. This seems to only work correctly after rebooting. Not after sleep. Current tasks I'm trying:

        • Selected Spotify under Start Set, Auto-Start App Settings. I assumed that this would work without needing an automated task. It does not work for Spotify, but it does work for AdGuard.

        • Selected Spotify under Keep Alive (do not sleep settings)
        • Via Android settings, I set Spotify battery management to Unrestricted
        • I've confirmed the failure to autoload doesn't occur with other widget apps in minimalist mode - Whatsapp, Google Maps, MyRadar, etc.
        • I've uninstalled/reinstalled Spotify.

As far as I can tell, the widget is not loading Spotify automatically, automated tasks will not start Spotify after sleep, and Start Set will not load Spotify.

I have exactly the same problem.
Also sometimes, randomly, Spotify will stop playing at the end of a song and not play the next song. I have to restart it.

MrFixer I've run into that second issue, but it's been due to losing my data connection. If I'm playing from downloaded songs they play normally.

I have noticed that occasionally I'll have to reopen Spotify if it hasn't been playing for a while. So start vehicle, play music, pause for some reason, then hit play some time later from the widget and it seems to have closed in the background. Very weird behavior.

Hey, for it to act the same as it does for reboot, you need to use the trigger Ignition on, this is the only one that works if you have the sleep mode activated.

Screen on and System Boot are not compatible with sleep mode

Try your setup that worked for a reboot with the Ignition on trigger

Oh wow, that worked! And it works when turning on to accessory mode as well as after starting the engine. I didn't even try "vehicle ignition" because it said "use this option if frequent hibernate" which didn't seem to apply to my situation. I had only tried the triggers under the Head Unit category.

Thanks man! I've been trying to figure this out for a month. 🤣

hrtloop Auto-task, change the trigger to vehicle ignition.
